Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

"He most certainly has the "pure bulk of D12 or Shaq". He is playing pretty consistent right now. Easily will average a double-double.

He’s averaging 10 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 20.7 minutes and is noticeably getting better every game as he gets in better shape and his team gets more comfortable with him out there. He’s got "20/10" written all over him.

Dwight Howard averaged 10 points, 12 rebounds and 1.7 blocks as a rookie in 32.6 minutes.

If you project Oden’s early stats to 32.6 minutes (despite his first two horrible games) he’s averaging:

15.7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks a game

The hype is legit."

WOW!!! G.O. got some major respect on that thread!

LarBrd33’s comments read like he is the president of the Greg Oden Fan Club, but if you read all of his comments you know this guys really knows his what he is writing about. Most of the other comments are favorable to G.O. also.

Fan Base

One of the good things about the Blazers, is that they have a secondary fan base across the country that makes them the #2 favorite behind the home team. Fans across the US want Oden to do well, and everyone likes a good team with good chemistry and upside. The lack of ego on the Blazers also contributes. Dave talks about the Europeon influence, and basketball junkies love good team play more than just about anything else. And this is what you see on the Celtic thread.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
