Ricky Rubio | 2009 NBA Draft
I know we've already got a battle for the PG position going on, but I cannot forget what I saw this kid do in Beijing. The chemistry he and Rudy had far surpassed what we see between Sergio and Rudy. They forced a crazy number of turnovers with their tandem defense attacks. I am not suggesting we replace Sergio with Ricky, but rather supplement one with the other.
Regardless of how much potential we see in Bayless, I don't think we need to try and turn a shoot-first comboG into the pass-first PG we need. We have enough scorers on this team. We need one of those rare magical playmakers like Rudy at the PG spot. And regardless of how hardworking Blake is, I don't know of anybody who actually envisions him to be the PG of our upcoming championship years.
So... How about some 2009 Draft Day Magic from KP, sending Blake + Bayless in exchange for the draft rights to Ricky Rubio?? What better way to help this kid adapt his game to the NBA, then to play under Sergio, and along side Rudy.
Besides, I've had this nightmare in my head of Ricky ending up on the L*kers, throwing lob after lob to Pau Gasol night after night. We CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN!!
What do you guys think??

Rubio
is on everyone’s radar. I don’t think he’s getting out of the top 10, maybe not even the top 5. Especially in this draft class. It would probably take a little more than even KP could muster to get Ricky on the Blazers.

...
He is going to the Grizzlies, calm down friend. They are booting Conley to a NY team & he will be eaten alive by the media.
Acquire Serge Ibaka.

If Rubio is not in the 5 or 3 first picks then that draft generation of players will be remember for a long time.
Anyway I am sure he will do the same path than Rudy. This means 3-4 years from now him to be drafted.
No way for KP to make a hat trick.

why would he wait 3-4 years?
he is probably better than Rudy was at that age and has alot of hype from the olympics, plus he sees what kind of success rudy is having, he coming out this year, or next year at the most.

To learn to shoot?
"But we need a center", Inman said. "So play him at center!" Knight yelled back. - Bobby Knight on Michael Jordan prior to the Blazers' 1984 draft pick of Sam Bowie.

He has spoken about his wish to end his contract with Joventut in 2011, before he even thinks about the NBA.
Perhaps he was only making diplomacy.
Just for curious, Ricky explained how he joined to “Joventut of Badalona”. He was 10 years old and he played for “El Masnou” while his brother played for “Joventut”. By that time his brother was playing the finals with Joventut against Barcelona and lost. After the game ended Ricky listened a member of Barcelona´s staff telling to his brother that he lost the title because he didn´t play for Barcelona, you know what I mean, like a Laker telling a Blazer that he loses because he plays for the small team. The day after Ricky went to the Joventut´s office to join to the team and told them: “next year we´ll win”. And he did it. A good lessons for that pretentious Barcelona guy.

It´s also a good lesson about some Spanish guys like Rudy and Ricky. They are not about money or power, they are about pride.

Would love to have him, but doubt it is possible..
KP will have to do some serious work to get high enough to nab him…special player though

I don't care if it is this year or the next...
if KP focuses all of his magic on getting Ricky maybe he could pull it off. He just needs to focus getting one player….

I love the idea
But I don’t think it’ll happen. It would cost at least Roy + picks.
He’s going to be a franchise turnaround a la Chris Paul for whoever drafts him, there’s no way to get him, no GM is dumb enough to trade him for Blake+Bayless.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

yes, he is ...
i m from spain, big fan of rudy, sergio and blazers…, but i keep my mind in ricky i think he is going to be a great nba player, a special player, why? because his play is diferent and magic .. . La pistola , the rencarnation of pistol maverich, like a budist lama. And he just say that maybe is going to be in 2009 draft, and i m almost sure he will does.
so with rudy is letal killer for blazer, for sure,
