Warriors Post Game Cool Down Thread
Breathe in.........Breathe out.......
Breathe in.........Breathe out......
Ok, lets try to forget about the refs tonight and lets focus on what's going on with the team.
Oden looks fantastic. He's a force down in the paint like we all hoped for. Going up strong and finishing with authority. Just needs to work on his footwork in the post, be a quicker decision maker with the ball, and holding on to the ball going up for the SLAM. The pick and roll looks nice with Roy. Oden is actually rolling to the hoop and Roy is looking for him. I can see that as a bread and butter play in the future.
Roy is still the heart of the team. He dictates the right tempo and is a calming influence on the court. I'll be curious if Sergio gets more playing time in the 4th quarter and see how Roy will be able to play with him. It was a little weird to not see the ball in Roy's hands on every trip down the court in the last 5 minutes of the game. Roy is definitely an All-Star.
Sergio played much better in the half court than transition. He looks a little out of control when he is moving so fast. I'm shocked at his new found touch from the 3-point line. It even looks like he is confident taking that jump shot.
Aldridge is just fustrating to watch down in the post. I've made several comments about how he can't play against physical defenders. Even though Maggette flopped a couple of times, he still played Aldridge very tough and Aldridge couldn't find a way to score in his comfort zone. I'm hoping for a bounce back game against the Bulls. Their front court isn't very good.
What's are your thoughts on the game tonight?
I just can't wait to play these Warriors again back in the Rose Garden.

They were shooting their minds out tonight.
And we almost won. Was a tough loss to take, but I walk away feeling like we are progressing very well.

You posted what I was going for first
so, I’ll delete my fanpost and post it here instead.
I was as mad as anyone here after the Warriors game tonight. The whole fourth quarter seemed like a string of bad calls going against us. Golden State couldn’t miss from the FT line tonight even though they are at the bottom of the league in FT%. They also were very effiecient in their long two point shots and 3 pointers. It seemed like everything was going their way. I’ve vented a bit since the end of the game and I think the best thing for us to do is look at the positives from the game.
Oden was a monster is less than 30 minutes. You all know that, no explanation needed.
Despite calls not going our way in the 4th quarter, the Blazers battled HARD to stay in that game. Getting steals, forcing tough shots and generally being next to impossible to put away late in the game. In the future, shots we miss will go in, calls will go in our favor and we’ll dig those games out.
We played tough at the end of a road trip.
The Bulls are going to be slaughtered tomorrow. All that frustration from tonights game combined with playing at home should turn the game into a blowout. Yes, I’m predicting a blowout. I’m going out on a limb and saying the Blazers are going to be MAD tomorrow. 15 point win at least. Tomorrow’s game will say a lot about this team no matter the outcome.
WWKPD?
Rudy fouls first?
I don’t have tivo. It was obvious from where KGW paused the replay that Rudy’s jersy was being held. Was it possible that Rudy held first to get around his man? I’m just asking.
could this go down in Blazer lore
like Han Solo and the who shot first thing from Star Wars?
I’d like to see some more angles of that, but if Rudy fouled first why wasn’t it called until they started breaking to the ball in the backcourt?
WWKPD?
Late calls happen all the time.
The Ref probably thought about it for a second.

Han shot first. Rudy didn't foul first. Lets start a movement ;-)
Exactly my thought when I read “Rudy fouls first”. Nerd.
Oh Well
This season, there have been games where I knew the Blazers were going to win it. Tonight, I didn’t feel like they were going to get over the hump. At least the team didn’t lose it’s composure with all the fouls.
For being 7ft tall
Oden got his shot blocked a lot. Pretty much the whole team got in on it and maybe the refs too

my friends it might be time to consider trading LMA
JK!
Actually, if LMA were gone it would open up a spot for Trout and clear room in the rotation for Webby and Batum and Frye. Maybe we ought to think about it.
I expect someone soon will make a fanpost about this suggestion. Who will it be?
Who will post the “trade LMA” fanpost? Seriously, there are some cogent reasons behind the idea.
We cannot put up with this flagrant lack of accountability anymore.
I don't think Trout is a starter in this league, much less a starting PF.
That being said, Aldridge hasn’t played like one recently either.

Or LeBron
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.
Aldridge
Aldridge is breaking my heart lately. Granted Maggette flopping like a fish out of water didn’t help at all. LaMarcus seems to be elevating much lower than usual. He’s rushing shots and not attempting to force his way in and is playing terrible off the ball. His defense looked ok for the 10 or so seconds he was allowed to play it, but I REALLY hope he bounces back tomorrow and comes up big.
For Oden. What can you say, dude’s a monster and haters can’t talk right now, Cowherd. He got lots of touches with Aldridge out and he made sure they counted. He needs to hang on to that ball and not lift if above his head too early when going for a dunk, but other than that he played as well as you could hope.
Joel was perfect tonight. Not literally, but for a back up center (starting right now though) you really cannot ask for more. He’s embracing his more limited role and not missing a beat. I’m glad to see that having Oden around has taught Roy how to better use a center on offense. Joel getting some extra points lately is no fluke as Brandon is doing a much better job in that first unit of drawing defenders and getting the ball to Joel.
Roy is Roy, would have liked to see him more aggressive early on but he’s always reliable.
Rudy Rudy Rudy. He bounced back and played hard. Unfortunately the ref must have ate some bad spanish food earlier and was taking it out on Rudy.
Sergio held onto his playing time and did a good job, he’ll be starting by sometime this year if he can keep it up.
Overall we deserved to lose, but somehow almost came back and would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for that meddling ref and his darn whistle.
Isn't the league handing out fines for flops?
Maggette could get one for any of his three flops tonight.
He won't.

They said they were going to be much more strict about flops.
So far I haven’t heard of anyone getting fined yet though. Maggette has a reputation of getting fouled, so he usually benefits when he flops.
This was a game the Blazers should have won
But they did enough things wrong or not well enough to lose it. Yeah the refs seemed to be especially obnoxious tonight, but the Blazers need to fight intelligently for 48 minutes if they’re going to consistently win road games against good teams. This goes double in the playoffs. So, let’s hope some lessons were learned tonight.
And Greg is starting to come around. He is going to be the reason we contend for a title by next year. Just wait until he learns the ropes a bit more and really gets in shape!
As a big LMA fan it's been tough watching him this season
He will def. get more time from me though.
As a big Sergio hater I’ve gotta admit that he played really, really well tonight. He had a few passes that set up easy assists. His 3 pt shooting and Ft shooting was real nice.
Frye is buried on the bench. This on a night where his more talented clone LMA played limited minutes.
I only watch about the last half off the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter but I like what I see.
I’m interested in seeing more Sergio play. He’s definitely improved since the last time I saw him play live (last year). One of the things I saw that I didn’t like was when on one of his drives to the hoop, he gets himself open for a reverse layup/shot, and shoots over the hoop. He then stands with a visibly frustrated look while everyone is running down the court. He should be running down the court too. Other than that I liked his pick plays with Outlaw, his two open 3 point attempts, and his defensive stop with the 2 on 1 drive where he deflected the ball out of bounds.
Oden’s impact on the game really hit me when I saw Fernandez take it to the rim driving around defenders and under the rim to to a reverse layup we’ve all seen him make before. Only this time he was off. I don’t in particular like that shot as a good percentage shot, not that I don’t doubt he can make it, but as the defenders came over to defend him, guess what, the area around the rim was cleared and Oden cleaned up the missed shot easily with an in the air rebound/dunk shot! Now I’m definately liking the move by Rudy. He’s got to know his back is covered if he doesn’t make the shot, Oden will always be right behind. This turns a bad play into another arsenal in our offense playbook, thanks to Oden!
Couple of other noteworthy things.
I thought the Blazers played a little too fast most of the game. The 4th quarter showed that the Blazers could have won if they took better care of the ball and slowed down the game.
The Warriors shot 33-35 on FTs. That will not ever happen again this season, it’s just the way the ball bounces.
The Blazers also committed 21 Turnovers. Not typical of the Blazers, I’m sure the faster pace and swarming Warriors defense had something to do with it. At least 5 of those turnovers were the offensive foul variety.
BINGO, BANGO, BONGO
Yup I was yelling at my tv for them to slow it down.
Somehow it didn’t work. The last thing you want to do against GS is play their tempo at their home. You will always lose that way.
Removed from the heat of the moment.
Initial reaction: Refer to Mark Ayotte as bags full of various things (well sacks actually, and just one thing).
Now: One of the WORST FT shooting teams go 94% w/ over 30 attempts while we turn the ball over 21 times and we almost pull it out on the road! Our guys showed more poise than the home team at the end there, which is why we almost got this one in the win column.
Now if we had shown more consitency throughout the game (on offense; defensively we were good, they just hit tough shots at an amazing clip) we would have been in a better position to really slam the game on them at the end. Right now the Blazers seem to go into lulls on offense during the middle parts of games, then kick it up about 3 levels (definately more than one atleast) and make a late push to take the game. We need to score consistently, and this should start happening once players get accumstomed to eachother.
Bottom Line: This one game will not make or break our season, yeah that was a rough break, Rudy WAS held and I think he got the T once he was walking away with Ayotte staring bullets into the back of his head, but our guys are playing winning basketball out there. Unfortunately its really only happening in the final 9mins, everything before that is just to keep it close until then.
Is Sergio actually playing better defense than Blake?
Are my eyes deceiving me? It can’t be? Everything I know has changed.
Someone talk me down.

Bear in mind the Warriors don't have a point guard to speak of.
Whoever was posting Oden up....was just stupid.

I watched the Shield on FX after the game. That calmed me down. Next week will be the amazing
finally. God this show is good. Better than Nip/Tuck. It did the trick.
