Gameday Open Thread -- Warriors
Game on!! Gaaaame onnnn! This should be a win. But it's Oakland. So it might not be. But it should be. So let's see what happens. Or, you could tell me what will happen. Start talking now.

Song that opened the Trailblazer radio broadcasts with Bill Schonley
Does anyone know the name of the all trumpets song that used to open the Blazer radio broadcasts in the original Rip City days with Bill Schonley? I’d love to get it as a ring tone on my phone.

that's a great question!!!
i’d love to have that too!
Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

Go Blazers
I’d be curious to know which G-State team will show up. If they get top production from what they have, it could be dangerous. Their problem is mostly inconsistency.

This is a game where we need the front line to really show up.
Oden and Aldridge can dominate… I mean, they start four shooting guards.

anybody see morrow play?
so morrow blew up during their last game, but i’ve never seen him before. did anybody happen to catch that game and could they describe his game? i have to admit i liked his humility:
“Today was just one of those things. I mean, you don’t shoot 15-for-20. Sometimes, I don’t even shoot 15-for-20 in drills, man.”

From the Media Game Day info linky
Warriors Head Coach Don Nelson (49-51 vs. Portland) has coached more games vs. the Trail Blazers than any other active NBA head coach.
But, has he lost more? Let’s help ’im out tonight.

Warriors fan,
here from golden state of mind. We dont got a game thread up yet, so I decided to come bother you guys. First of all you guys are epic on your game threads and everyone on sbn knows that, so props for all you hardcore fans. It should be a great game tonight, 2 of the youngest teams in the NBA.
Not trying to piss anybody off, but I honestly wouldnt trade Andris Biedrins for Greg Oden straight up. Biedrins is a flat out stud this year, in case you guys havent heard. But Aldridge and Roy are studs, I’m excited to have our first look at Rudy.

Maybe
but he is like a really athletic version of Joel P. Also, you might want to scale those stats by minutes and pace and see how they compare to Oden’s last two games. I am guessing that they wont look as good. Again, I like Bedrinis, but I feel like what I see is what I am going to get, hustle, defense, and boards, but a guy you dont have to guard when he is 6’+ from the basket. That has been his story for the last few seasons.

Still too skinny,
but his speed and lenght help him compensate. Plus with Nellietossing Corey Maggete and unproven power forwards(Brandan Wright) Biedrins is pulling alot of the slack.
On a humorous note, Nellie is having Beidrins play point center on a few plays, hopefully we get a chance to see that again tonight.

Reminds me of Sabonis
One of the things I miss most is watching Sabas inbound the ball after an opponent’s made basket.
Anyone else remember the way he would palm it and throw it in underhand? He was so smooth at that, and it was legitimately faster than the alternative. I’ve never seen it duplicated.

I can't argue with that, personally
Biedrins has shown real game. And has been consistently good over the last few years. His FG% is /insane/.
That said, I bet no Blazers fan would make the trade either. It’s just one of those question of perspective, I guess.

with Bayless, Rudy, and Roy is he getting enough minutes. I read off Hollinger, that he isnt being used well and would do alot better in a faster paced system.
Well we can use a pg, till Ellis gets back, how do you think Pritchard feels about Marco Bellinelli or Marcus Williams?

He is better suited to a higher tempo game, but he could be coming around. He needs to either develop a consistent outside shot or improve his defense to be a long term solution though. Or both!

by Ben. on Nov 18, 2008 5:37 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Sergio has been doing better.
But he would still probably benefit from being in a more chaotic offense. The consensus around here is that he’s a backup in Portland, and something’s going to have to change for him to be a starter. Would KP trade him? Yes, in a heartbeat if he got a better offer. For Williams or Bellinelli? Definitely not Williams – doesn’t fit our “culture.” Don’t know enough about Belinelli to say.

Bayless

we're really a bad team to pick as a trading partner,

I dont got enough time to discuss that. Nellie is a great coach bu not good at developing young talent, and we are the youngest team in the NBA and clearly rebuildng. Nellie was extended, as a political move, while Robert Rowell(our team president) is quietly shoving Chris Mullin out the back door. Our front office is in a dissaray, Rowell has humilated repeatedy Mullin and Monta Ellis to the media.
Back to the original question, Nellie is great and he keeps us fun and exciting and we love him. But it doesnt take a genious to see he isnt the right guy to develop our young team.

No huge, gaping slump where the Blazers tune out for a period.
Then of course a blow-out for the Blazers. Not an L.A. first game of the year blow-out, but a game that builds to a nice crescendo and the Blazer take hold and finish the job.

Crestview Cable
showing Blazer KGW games in Prineville for sure, and in Madras, too, me thinks.

a rebound. Now we have Greg and Joel always out there.

Game is on KGW. I hate how the HD feed on news channel 8 looks about the same as the regular broadcast
of the game. Why can’t we get an HD feed for away games? I know their fans get it in HD.

they suck and so does Mike Conley Jr.
being Greg Oden’s teammate enabled him to climb the draft boards way too way.
He was supposed to be the best PG last year. I wouldn’t trade for him right now.

Most notably Utah and New Orleans, two teams that beat us.
