TRAIL MIX 11/17/08 -- Get rid of Joel Przybilla...Get Eddie Curry edition

MIGHT AS WELL GET 2-FOR-1 MILEAGE OUT OF THIS ONE SINCE THERE'S NO NEW GARBAGE DUMP UP THIS MORNING...

----------

Why has this not been talked about?  The faster this team upgrades at its weakest backup scorer the quicker we win.  Now I know this wont be popular because the media likes to create heroes and villains (for some reason they made Curry a villain) but lets examine this a bit further.

- He still has a few good years left.  He's not quite 26.

- He has been placed in terrible situations for his entire career. Chicago and New York have been for the most part "talent wastelands".  Everyone jumps on him because he gets sick of losing and is slow and fat?  Something just doesnt add up.

- You would have to give up next to nothing to get him.  The Blazers sign him.  He goes down in flames.  So what?  The long term plan goes untouched.

- He's at the end of carreer and he knows it.  How many star athletes who are so overweight and leaden on their feet grow out more and fit in on a winning franchise?  His backside is endless.

- Most importantly, he is exactly the opposite of Joel Przybilla.  His perimeter jumper is at least average.  He can create things on his own.  He sees the floor very well.  What is Pryz other than a putback threat and a televised game liability?

I simply dont see enough of a negative to at least consider this option.

Yah...

And I saw Joel at a strip club once. Trade that ass hat.

I saw Joel slap a stripper once

She never saw it coming, and Joel just leaned over her as she tried to stand back up and pointed at his tattoo and said “NOT IN MY HOUSE”. Then another girl came over to help the first girl up and Joel kicked her in the neck and said “AND 1” while pointing to that tattoo.

And then he solemnly prayed with a rosary dangling from his hand.

THAT JOEL DESERVES HIS OWN REALITY SHOW.

Timbo, if want attention why dont you just paint yourself neon yellow and ride your bike to portland

and speaking of talent wastelands, Portland hasn’t been to the playoffs in 5 years! Brandon Roy LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden are just good players in a bad position, we can win NOW for next to nothing if Paul Allen buys Kobe Bryant and Amare Stoudemire and the big Italian “really talented” big dood in Toronto that is also a talented player playing for a talent wasteland. Hey if it doesnt work out, no harm done we can still have our long term plans.

That is the 1st 5, isn't it?

A Night at the Opera was the 1st Queen album I heard (not the 1st Queen song though, I think that was Killer Queen) .

Me and a friend drove (in his Chevy Vega) from Grants Pass to Seattle (and back) and at about Canyonville we realized we had brought only one 8-Track with us…….A Night at the Opera! It was a fifty-fifty shot….we would either grow to love it…or hate it. We loved that album!!

PS that is one of my fav 70’s moments

Your right that New Your is a wasteland, if only you don’t live there. Look Thomas was OK before he came to the wasteland. Lets get Marbury he has been in a wasteland for ever, and we need to save him. Heck, Paul Allen can buy the whole wasteland and we can have our celebration there after we win a ring after we get Marbury.

for 04-05 season, I have to believe Joel is a far better defender now than he was back then.

also:
http://forum.bettingadvice.com/viewtopic.php?p=2338201

"Przybilla was the team’s best defender, finishing the season with 4.8 ppg and 8.4 rpg. He finished the season in 4th in the whole league in terms of rebounds per 48 minutes with 12.0, which shows how dominant he can be in the paint. Hardly we can find another player who averaged 8.4 rpg with just 23.6 minutes per game! "

In order for Trent Edwards to get into the Hall Of Fame in 2018, he would need to compile five years’ worth of mind-blowing statistics, and then retire in 2013 at age 30, and then get voted in on his first year of eligibility.

I’d rate that on par with the likelihood of KP scooping up Marbury this year.

The was a post on Deadspin a while back where Marbury was talking about spaceships and Noah’s ark and other thoughts that aren’t entirely clear. But it did contain this nugget of wisdom:

If I didn’t play the way how I played, I wouldn’t have gotten no max contract. … Don’t get mad at me, because I’m telling you what’s real. One plus one is two, all day long, and it’s never gonna change. And that’s factorial.

Not really.

Oden is pretty good, by the way. I missed that being while I was being overly underwhelmed… Then ya look at the numbers coming in and it’s a HOLY CRAP moment…

Making fun of the guy's trade proposal is one thing.

You have to learn to take the heat when you voice your opinions.

However your comment above is uncalled for. You may not have liked his proposal or his tone in some of his follow up remarks, but that does not justify being as insulting as “crawled out of his sorry little hole.”

Seriously, friend

you’ve been over the top more than once, and I really don’t want to have to start flagging your posts.

The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

this has to be a joke

joel is the perfect backup center for our championship teams, a center half of the teams in the nba would kill for as a starting center. eddy curry is a turd. he is an anti-blazer, kp wouldn’t sign him if he was being held at gunpoint. have you not paid attention to the culture our team has built?

seriously, if that was a sincere idea, you either don’t understand basketball or you don’t understand portland.

good god.

Does anyone know

what Hollinger said about Oden on his Insider column on friday? On the Hollinger ESPN page I see something titled “Greg Oden’s New Nickname,” but I don’t have insider so I’m curious what he said about Greg.

Blazers Edge is underwhelming today.

I hope when this tread comes down, that folks will take that Marbury thread down too. I think it was only rec’ed so that this post would make sense.

Funny you should say that

I was just thinking the same thing. I have been pretty quiet today due to the lack of anything interesting going on here.

Which topic do you think would get things interesting?

1) Global warming

2) Same sex marriage

3) Abortion

or

A) Trading Sergio / B;ake / Travis / Channing

B) Who is the bigger bust – Oden or Bayless

C) How much longer before Nate needs to be fired.

The Marbury thread was rec'ed first

A few people including myself asked why, and Timbo wrote this parody.

I just put up Channing’s list of the “Sweatiest NBA Players” in the fanshots. That should be right up Tom’s alley.

Depends on part of them is the sweatiest.

If it’s not about the gonadal region, Tom’s probably not too interested.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
