Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Don't anoint Greg Oden yet.

  1. Whereas some people have already labeled Greg Oden a bust. And..
  2. Whereas the defense against this is to say "you can't call Oden a bust after 29 minutes of NBA time." Therefore be it...
  3. Resolved that an additional 24 minutes does not make Oden the next big thing, no matter how awesome those 24 minutes were. The sample size is simply too small right now. But be it. also..
  4. Resolved that we sure do hope he does continue not only his season, but his entire career matching and exceeding tonight's performance. Finally, be it also...
  5. Resolved that I only needed four points to write this Fanshot, yet it still insists on listing number 5.

you have the coolest name ever

and a funny comment to boot…rec’d

I've got a plan......we lob up a bad shot that Dwight can block, but we do it in such a way that it hits either Rashard or Hedo in the head knocking them out for the game.

I bow down in awe.

You were able to cover this fanpost in ONLY four points.
I humbly acknowledge that I’d still be posting…for days.
I have trouble expressing myself when it comes to GO.
…maybe if I tried it in a poem.

Er, umm…

Nah, I still can’t do it.

Forget the poem, go with the Haiku

Oden still rookie
Anticipation higher
Time means All Star

okay, just kidding. wanted to see if I could hit the 5/7/5. Maybe All-Star, maybe not. But some encouraging signs; he took his time on offense (though that hook still looks a bit questionable), but mostly did what Portland needs; 4 blocks, 11 boards. If he can provide that with regularity…yet to be seen…Portland will be a force to be reckoned with.

And

there are only a few people who can handle his strength in the post, offensively or defensively. On offense, that’s enough for him to get doubled by teams who lack size up front which opens up our offense.

I agree

that this 24 minutes does not make Oden the Next Big Thing.

Nevertheless, Oden is the Next Big Thing. (Or one of them anyway.) He’s just no more or less the NBT than he was yesterday. He won’t actually be it until he has nights like this, extrapolated out to 36+ minutes, on a regular basis for an entire season.

Maybe Colin just saw another game :)

Like his worst summer league game or the moment he twisted his ankle or something. I doubt he even looked up the videos from training camp, were Greg looked very exhausted but still dominant against other real NBA players.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
