This game scares me because of one player...CP3. No one can really stay in front of CP3. However, the thought of Blake and Sergio trying to guard CP3 is truly frightening. Other players will have to help out off of their man, and once they do CP3 is the best in the business at finding the open player for the easy basket.
So what should Nate do? Does he try Batum on him? I like Batum's length, but that is going to be a monumental challenge for Batum. We can implement a zone, defense but then Chandler will eat us alive on the offensive boards. I am intrigued at the notion of bringing in Bayless as a 2 guard and letting him try to stay in front of CP3. The other option I see, though you probably can't do this all game long, is send a second defender at CP3 as soon as he crosses halfcourt...and then try to deny him getting the ball back. The last option I see, is making CP3 a scorer and staying home on the other players...though this is going to be extremely difficult, b/c the instinct for the defender is to help out, so I have a feeling the others will get their points anyway.
And lastly, on offense our ball handlers are going to have be extremely careful with the ball, b/c he is such an aggressive defender. I do like the idea of Roy playing the point guard at times, in order to make CP3 work on the defensive end...hopefully that will tire him out a little...though he seems to have a pretty good motor.
What do you guys think? How do we deal with CP3?
