Brandon
According to the PTB, Brandon Roy is now officially listed day-to-day with back spasms suffered near the end of tonight's game. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
Bummer man. What a buzzkill. Hope for the best.

Brandon.
Is a soldier. Get healthy soon.

Keep him out of the Miami game
Give Rudy his minutes and let Bayless play a little.
$.02
sick Bayless on Mario Chalmers
now that would be kinda fun to see.

I like that
"The match in Los Angeles is a good opportunity to begin to demonstrate that we want to make war." Rudy Fernández (translated)
2nd that emotion
It’s a long trip. It’s a long season. Give BRoy a day or two off.
Let “Francis” (“Anyone touches my stuff, I’ll kill em’”) Bayless run wild.
And it seems our bench walloped the Magic bench. Let the cream rise to the top.
RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!
This is a good game for Rex to get going with...
…………………………. Not the most severe opponent or most hostile environment.
"I’m glad Sergio played well in pre-season, but he should be getting killed for whining. He ain’t that important to the country of Spain, let alone the Trail Blazers." --Mortimer Pritchard
I disagree.
The Blazers have a good shot of beating Miami with Roy. Without Roy it’s much more of a tossup. On the ohter hand, the NO game is probably a loss either way. I propose that if he needs a game off he plays against Miami, Blazers hopefully pick up the win, and then he sits against NO and the team probably loses a game that would have been a longshot anyway.
Add regular caveat that on any night in the NBA any team can beat their opponent, etc… My suggestion is just trying to play the odds to our favor a bit.
based on Brandon's personality, this is probably a moot discussion
if he is able to play, he will demand to play.
Remember how adament he was about practicing every day during training camp despite coming off the surgury.
He won’t allow anybody to hold him out if he can go.

“Fifth Quarter”
Tone caught up with BRoy on the bus and asked him how his back was? Brandon smiled and said it is OK.
Elizabeth had a partner and he had a rap from the cops, Him and Lenny Suckerpunch were just out Tooling around
Any thoughts of whether it was wise to put him back in?
Could extra stretching on the sidelines been more valuable than throwing that inbounds pass in?
I cringed when Nate put him back in
It didn’t seem worth it. Back injuries can go from painful to unbearable with a small amount of movement. Luckily he brought him right back out. I’ll trust Nate’s leadership but that decision was questionable.

Back injuries
can be bothersome and always a point of concern….they can reappear when you think their gone and back spasms are one of the quirkiest <——(Is that a word?) injuries or phenomena there is….Similar to leg cramping, in that it is muscle related…..convulsive vs contractive…..But unlike leg cramping, back spasms can be more long term…..
Youth is on his side, however, and usually back spasms respond to combination’s of therapy and rest….If he is good to go on Wednesday that should be a great sign……

My gues is that he'll play in Miami.
He’s the leader and we have momentum. This is the pain that you play through.

I'm over my head here.

Anybody remember how long it took for our guys to break 100 2 seasons ago?
Hey, yeah; a side effect of holding teams to exactly 99 points in wins is . . .
. . . that means we NEEDED to score a hundred (but not more), and did it.

Rudy is in pain also...
but I seem him getting some of those minutes. Get Healthy BRoy!

He's a Blazer
Not a Warrior.
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.
He probably
would be fine if he wasn’t hogging the ball to win the game. He overexerted himself by playing with himself . . . that sounds wrong.
It would be interesting for me (and some of the “Roy is a ballhog” haters) to see the team without him. He is indeed a warrior. He wins games.
He hogs the ball
because that what Nate wants….he feels Roy is the best option at crunch time.
The team is not hiding the fact that everything out there will include Roy in the play…..Most teams will overplay this, and thus, puts extra pressure and strain on Roy….mentally, he handles it fine…Physically, it will be demanding for sure….

My attempt
at a joke didn’t come off well. I know why he has the ball at crucial times and I don’t see anyone else who could do what he does.

I made a comment about how Roy seems tougher and able to take a beating. I guess
it caught up with him. His back is acting up now. It’s no surprise, but I hope he comes back fast. He doesn’t need any set backs just as he has shaken all the rust off.
OT
Hey Ben, do players sit on bigger folding chairs (the bench) than chairs everyday people sit on?
Didn’t Rudy have the same condition the other day? I’m sure he’ll be fine.
same chairs, they don’t look particularly comfortable

So when are these people gonnna call me for their backs?
Ben, Dave can you fix this?
I can fly to Miami or NO…
Whoever was stretching Roy was doing him no service…it was making me wince..
Utah had a chiro with a practice like mine (appled kinesiology) that kept them with the lowest injury rate even during the Malone Stockton Hornacek years when they were the oldest team in the league…
Shav is not being vocal enough to get me in there…I’m gonna give him a ton of grief about that today…but if anyone has an inside voice…

I've questioned our trainers myself
My wife has a degree in kinesiology and just from what I’ve picked up from her training people I’ve noticed that our trainers aren’t up to date on stuff. Look at how players rave about Phoenix’s training staff. Our trainers seem old school. It’s time to come into the 21st century.

about the best i can offer you is… if you want to email me some questions about various procedures or techniques or approaches, i can ask those questions to the head trainer and transcribe his responses for discussion. some background information (links, etc.) on the questions (so i can do some catch up reading on them) would also be appreciated.
im not a medical expert.
perhaps that would be helpful to you in some way?
