Trail Mix 11/10/08 -- Oden-free and fully recyclable

Okay, you empty-headed animal food trough wipers, it's 1:00 pm and nobody has waddled up to the plate. Serves you right that now you have to listen to me.

OSU Beavers crack the Top 25, which means the demise of their season this Saturday is at hand. Cal Bears are coming to town. I will say this: Longshore is not particularly mobile and the Beavos do have a nice D, so it should play pretty evenly... I'm still rooting for the Dream Civil War Game -- winner to the Rose Bowl. That will take a Trojans loss though, and that's not gonna be happening...

I dropped coin for NBA League Pass Broadband today. We'll see if it's worth it. I do love my Lakers after all... Really great basketball like they're playing this year is closer to art than sport. I know that won't be a popular point of view with the tattooed homers, but I calls 'em like I sees 'em... I'm actually planning on watching games after the fact -- that's the feature that hooked me. Their blacking out ARCHIVED Blazer games definitely the weak suit... Who else has got NBALP Broadband and how do you like it?

Balzers start their first East Coast swing today and we're going to finally get a real sense of whether this team has taken a step forward from last year's crew. Two wins and two losses means yes, anything less means no. I have a really good feeling about this thing, Dwight Howard notwithstanding... The Minny game is a road back-to-back, which is one of the toughest rows to hoe in the garden. I STILL say Nate should sit one or two rotation players from the NO game and get Shav and Rex into the mix for that one -- tired legs kill in the NBA.

Well, I'll round up the analog news distribution device for more topics o'blather...

How do you know the American economy is in deep doo-doo? This lead, above the fold: "SHANGHAI, CHINA.-- China announced a huge economic stimulus plan Sunday aimed at bolstering its weakening economy..." Pucker up, everyone...

Circuit City files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Barry visits Bushie in the White House. No news as to whether the Prez's little black dog went postal on the interloper.

Page 2: "For GOP, the White House Race Has Begun." Just what we need, a new Presidential election campaign. It is November 10, 2008, after all... Probably the most insipid article of the week, but I'm sure a lot of people are going cold turkey from their political smack and need to come up with SOMETHING to hold onto.

Seahawks lose again. No one cares. Tell me why were they on my TV again?

Geoffrey C. Arnold notes that Seattle Guy and Former Duck Mr. Aaron Brooks had his best game for the Rockets during their 29-point drubbing at the hands of the Kobe Ko. Quotable:

Ask Brooks if he is trying to become a true point guard, and he gives an interesting answer.

"People ask, 'Are you a true point guard or scoring guard?'" Brooks said. "I'm a scoring guard. I can do both."

There are more NBA PGs like him around than people realize. Somebody do a fanpost on that.

Big story on Roy's buzzer beaters by Jason Quick. Looks like it's not up on OregonLive.com yet... Quick lists the Big Bomb against Houston as No. 1. That was a big shot, for sure. Which was bigger?

Oh well, that's enough for now.

nor his “Balzers” talk.

this, however, is very funny:

that's a good analogy

L*kers = Manure on a bbq. I like that.

you aren’t allowed to be a fan of the Blazers and the FL*kers…it’s in the commandments. it’s the 11th, lesser known commandment. so choose now or forever hold your peace! (or is it Piece? I never could figure that out…they both make sense in their own way)

Every child must be encouraged to get as much education as he has the ability to take. We want this not only for his sake-but for the nation's sake. Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not military preparations-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brain power to build a world of peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.

I have nothing interesting to say

But with nothing to do at work, no new news to read about anywhere (especially now that the elections are over) and a few hours to go before I can go home and watch the blazers play… this has been shaping up to be the longest day ever. Thank god it’s already 3!

by VivaBlazers on Nov 10, 2008 3:05 PM PST reply actions

I can't believe you wasted money on LP Broadband!

I just sent them a flame mail for how lame it is that they charge people $100 for a season, and then black out a good 20% of the games. So far I’ve been able to watch exactly ONE Blazers game on there because they’ve had the rest on blackout! How lame. last i checked, at the beginning of EVERY nba game that is broadcast they play a message that sounds like this: “This broadcast is the property of the National Basketball Association. Any reproduction, rebroadcast, or public showing without the expressed written consent of the National Basketball Association is strictly prohibited”. So, if they OWN the games, why can’t they show them? tell TNT, ESPN, CSN, and anyone else who whines to go bark up another tree if they don’t like it. They use the broadcast from said networks for their stream on Broadband, so why do they feel the need to block out the Blazers @ Orlando while I’m trying to watch from San Diego??? Makes absolutely no sense to me and they absolutely WILL NOT be getting my hard earned dollar.

i’ll step off my soap box now.

i think you may be outta luck on that

since there are going to be more FL*ker games on national tv than Blazers, and those are the games that are getting blacked out on Broadband…But, hope it works out for you! I’d hate to see you lose that $90 to the NBA and not get out of it what you’d hoped!
