Webster's Surgery

From the Blazers:

WEBSTER UNDERGOES FOOT SURGERY

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Trail Blazers announced that guard Martell Webster underwent surgery today to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. He is expected to be sidelined for 8-10 weeks.

Dr. Jay Crary performed the surgery at Southwest Washington Regional Surgery Center in Vancouver , Wash. As part of the procedure, Webster had a screw inserted into his fifth metatarsal bone.

The injury occurred during Tuesday night's preseason game against the Sacramento Kings.

It's a bummer because I love how Martell came out in that game, but at least it's early on.  Speedy recovery!

Speedy recovery to Martell

Good that they fixed it with the screw. Initially that means a little longer recovery and more discomfort, but the probability of a nagging problem and re-injuries a la what a well known former Blazers center went through is much lower.

Does this totally kill the possibility . . . .

. . . of him getting an extension before the Halloween deadline?
Or does this maybe lower his price, make his camp more amenable to reasonable terms?

Missing Martell already

Very disappointing about Martell’s foot, especially for him. I thnk he is a valuable part of the team and have seen a more well rounded game from him already in the first two games (scrimmage included).

So much hard work and promise, but he can com eback strong.

someone actually got a surgery w/out going to LA?

I thought they were contractually obligated by the NBA to go get surgery in LA since it seems everyone does. Way to feed the local economy Martell!!

have a speedy recovery.

Actually...

I believe most Blazer surgery is done in Vancouver at the SOuthwest Washington medical Center. Roy’s meniscus, Oden’s knee and Martell’s foot were all done there. Not sure about Channing Frye’s ankle surgery.

For some reason

I remember Frye getting it done in California. I could be wrong though.

Sad times for Martell

Although injuries are part of basketball in really hurts at he start of his contract year. He developed a nice chemistry with Rudy in the Sacramento game and I think we all want to see how much better than can take them (as they have only been playing together for a month). Get well soon Martell. I am still rooting for you to return stronger than ever.

I do think Travis will have a better opportunity to determine if he is a starter or a 6th man now.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
