This is good news, actually
Surgery was the only real way for an NBA player to deal with a fractured 5th metatarsal (e.g. putting a screw in it) – trying to let it heal w/out surgery has a high probability of reinjury later. I expect he’ll be back in the starting lineup in 11 weeks (8-10 weeks recovery + getting his legs back under him and getting used to the screw in his foot / getting fitted with proper orthotics). That leaves plenty of time for him to shine. He’ll be lighting up Utah on 12/27 at the Rose Garden.
