Nickname for Rudy: El Espanola Pistola ( The Spanish Pistol)
The Kings announcer said something about Rudy passing like [Pistol] Pete Maravich during the game...I saw "Hispaniola Pistola" yesterday, but this does not work in the purest sense. Hispaniola is an island that houses the countries of Haiti and The Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Hispanola does not mean "Spanish" in the purest sense, although it is a variant.
So if this name sticks, I will take the credit, unless there is an earlier reference I am not aware of, in which case, of course, I will defer. But I like the moniker regardless.
That is all. :-)
PS: Sorry I couldn't figure out how to get this into a fan shot with just text and no image, url, etc.

I think they tried to say it in Spanish. It would be "La Pistola Española".
Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

La Pistola
the male would be El Pistolo, but that doesn’t quite work.
Is there such a word as Pistolo, amlmart1?

There is "Pistolón", that´s "big pistol".
For example:

Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

Who is "they"?
And were they saying Hispaniola (sorry I don’t have the ~ font on the computer I am on, or I don’t know how to generate it).

I guess I got the words backwards in Spanish.
Anyway, if “they” did come up with it, I hope it sticks. I like it. It has my vote. It fits.

Isn't Ricky Rubio supposed to be the next Pete Maravich?
How many Pistol Pete’s are there in Spain :)
I definitely see why our head scout stressed his passing skills as if that was the most impressive aspect of his game. A guy who can consistently convert alley oops and dish them out to other guys is pretty rare. He really looks like the player in the YouTube videos now, and along our guys has targets who score even better than what he had to work with in Badalona.

I don't buy it.
Ricky and Pete look a little alike, but Pete’s game was totally different than Ricky’s. The Ricky:Pete analogy is a bit of ESPN-type hype that does not really hold up.
Pete was a prolific shooter first and last + showtime handle. Defense, not so much.
Ricky is not a shooter like Pete. If I understand correctly, Ricky’s game is strongest on defense, when he’s getting crafty steals. On offense, he’s a floor general, but not a rapid-fire shooter like Pete was.
I say the “Spanish Pistol” nickname is still up for grabs. Whether it applies to Rudy, time will tell.
Also, remember that despite his undeniable awesomeness, Pete was not exactly a team player; great individual success, but not a team-first guy. Maybe that’s the price of once-in-the-history-of-the-game greatness, but I prefer a team-first guy for this edition of the Blazers.
