Sacramento Reaction
It's not up yet, but I'm sure by morning the great Tom Ziller will have some thoughts on the game up at SactownRoyalty. It'll be worth a read, both for the perspective and because Tom's an astute guy.

Looking forward to it.
I always like seeing the perspective of the other side. Plus I’m a closet King fan when they aren’t playing against the Blazers or when one of their wins doesn’t harm us. I was disappointed to not see Martin tonight, but Papa Oden and Rudy made it all better.

Eh.. what?
Dave, I’m like a sheep lost amongst wolves. I know not what to make of this exhibition. Please, guide us to what is right and wholesome in Blazerdom. I need to know whether to, for instance, cast my lot for Ike Diogu -mine own eyes say no – he is a wastrel – yet I reserve all judgment for your capable communication.
Seriously, though, will there be a Dave’s recap for this showing? If not, we’re all worse off. I always look forward to your kind and sober reactions (even though I’ve yet to read BEdge during a REAL gameday!).

Very complimentary
He finally got it up…like the announcers he only had a couple bright spots for their team to comment on.
The rest is pretty glowing review of Portland and a lament that things aren’t fair

Agreed that Donte Greene had a good game
He might turn out to be one of the steals of the draft. He went about ten positions lower than expected, and the way he plays he could become their Travis Outlaw in a few years if everything works out, a very athletic 3/4 wing who can hit the outside shot. At least he is the best piece they got out of the Artest deal so far.

My favorite line:
" Beno Udrih attacked the rim, as I had hoped he would. In retrospect, Portland
is probably one of the two or three teams in the NBA where that’s not the best idea."

Mikki More quote on guarding Greg
“Heavy. Very heavy. Once you play good individual defense on him, if he shoots the ball and he misses it, it ain’t easy to go back and get it because you used all your energy just to keep him out of the paint. He’s going to be a force. Everybody’s going to have to adjust to him.”

My favorite quote
I had completely forgotten that Portland has Ike Diogu and Nicolas Batum on its roster. Completely not fair, guys. Completely not fair.

perspective?
seemed like more a “Woe is Me” interpretation of the game. He had very little to say about his own team, and a couple quips about the PTB.
After I read it this song popped into my head (its not the SMCC)
I heard local sports radio jobber say the White Crayola is useless. I wholeheartedly disagree.

There is not much to say about your team when your center, lonely top scorer plus one rotation guy are missing
As I already said before the game, we can be happy about a victory in dominant fashion, but while we should be still better than the Kings (since we also “missed” Blake) in the season it didn’t show their true strength.

Oh Dave I wish you could of have been there
It was a night I will not soon forget. My roomie and I got off work, played some pickup basktetball out in front of my house for a while (I did my best Rudy fade away, Colin his LMA 18 foot jumper) and then drove down to China Town and parked, waited for the max and once we noticed the wait was over 5 minutes we decided to run acros the bridge, so six minutes later a sweaty Blazermaniac Andy runs up 4 flights of stairs to my new seats in Sec 324. The first quarter I will forget, half way though the second quarter our guys shook the rust off and things started getting fun. Greg’s first dunk sent a roar through the garden on par with anything I have ever heard before. Rudy’s flashy passes had the place whispering to each other like we were in junior high and when he went up for that second alley oop, changed his mind in mid air, and flipped up something Rudy-Esque we all knew it would be a special night.
Unlike 12 sharks, I was impressed with Ike’s effort, he reminded me of Z-Bo minus the baggage. He had that junk yard dog hustle that you can’t teach, and a soft touch around the rim. He will be perfect for our half court set when we go with Greg, Jerryd, Ike, Roy and Webster. Oh, on Martell real quick, the man looks anew. He and Rudy combined for 3 fantastic alley oops, one I remember was especially nasty, highlighted by Marty cocking his arm back and throwing it down like I imagined him doing when we drafted him instead of taking CP3 or Deron. Roy was Roy. JB4 was his usual stone cold self but I liked that Spanish choco played well enough tonight to perhaps silence some of the critics (on this blog too) who think he’s not going to be a major part of this rebuilding. Obviously when he was on the floor the offense was flowing, not so much at the very onset of the game when Roy had to take over, but later in the game when he and Rudy were looking like the Mighty Spanish Juggernaught.
All in all it was just a good fun time complimented by some delicious fried taco shells at the end of the night.
See you all there again tonight! And if requested, I will be sure to tell you my new tantalizing tale.

It was a magical night for blazer fans!!
The dawn of a new… …. … something amazing!! Can’t wait for opening night against the Lakers! Where are we all gathering to watch that game!?!?
And then the Spurs!! Woot! The Rose Garden will be ROCKIN!!!
I may be there again tonight. Haven’t figured out who is actually using our tickets. Somehow there seemed to be a bit of confusion about that at last night’s game.

sage where do you want to meet up at? We could do my house, or some cantina downtown
I do like the idea of all of us BEdger’s getting together ro BEdge out in front of the boob tube during Blazer’s Away Games. I was talking to my friend about opening night, we are both freaking out, if a near sell out for a pre-season is any indication we are going to have an amazing run playing in the Rose “Insert Sponsor Here” Garden for many years to come.
Let there be no confusion about who is using tickets on any given night. Confuses says.

Perhaps at the Rose Garden?...
I’m listening to the BFT, and it sounds as if the Blazer’s president is considering opening up the Rose Garden for Away games to be viewed on the big screens. Would be cool if it happened. Not getting my hopes up. It would be cool if it happened at least for the season opener, and playoff games. All i know is… those courtside seats will be neck killers :-)

One bad thing about Rudy
The girl I took to the game fell in love with him. He was all she could talk about. I mean, I appreciate a girl enjoying the game, even enjoying it a lot. But, sheesh.

My wife of 20+ years
Got her first good look at Rudy last night. Her response “he is pretty cute”
She hasn’t been a big Blazer fan since the early 90s. But when she saw the last alley-oop from Rudy to Marty she went “woo-hoo, Terry to Clyde!”
(and that’s when you know Blazermania IS back, Mr. Canzano)

Highlite Video
From YouTube, it’s clipped from the actual broadcast. Pretty well, too. Here.
I thought the broadcasters were good last night. Gave credit where credit was due, rather knowledgable about our team, but related things back to their Sactown fan base, like they should. Pretty good work.
Take a look at the video: does it look like we travelled a bit? Some of Rudy’s passes seem to be preceded by him maybe travelling or double-dribbling. Are these things going to haunt us later?
