ESPN The Mag Bill Simmons: Durant edges out Oden for stardom
Seems to be an old pre-draft column from last year, but someone at ESPN published it again on October 2 so it re-surfaced on his "Sports Guy" page. Of course a little outdated, but a lot of points are still valid and some observations about Oden (and Durant) really interesting. Even though he gives Durant the overall edge, his comparisons for Greg are favorable (Zo Mourning, Ewing). Will be interesting to read an updated version this year in one of his NBA columns.

Simmons has long been a Durant fan and there is nothing new
with his schtick
The season cannot get here soon enough.

Simmons is generally readable
and I kind of like his schtick, but is is all Boston all the time, and it is clear from other stuff he’s done (e.g., the ‘08 NBA draft chat with Ford on ESPN) that he is envious of Portland’s cap situation, RELC’s expiring contract, KP’s awesomeness, Paul Allen’s money, etc.

He blew it on the nickname question
by using GO’s first name i/o his surname. Oden sounds way more dominating than Durant.

I'm waiting for Simmons to write a new article
Darius Miles Brings New Hope to Boston
He’s such a Celtics homer, I’m sure he’d try to spin it that way.
