Blazers VS Spurs predictions

OK guys, friday (tomorrow) is the first Blazers vs Spurs game of the season. Portland will be without Oden due to a mid-foot sprain that will have him out a couple weeks. Without further ado, here are my predictions for this game from a Portland perspective:

The two battles:

1.) LMA v Duncan. LaMarcus Aldridge gets up to play Duncan, I'd say 25+ points from LMA but only ~6 boards. Duncan will probably get 18-21 with 9 rebounds

2.) Roy vs Bowen. Roy can be bothered by Bowen and Udoka so I think we'll see Roy with about 16 pts (7 of which come in the 4th quarter) 5 assists, ~4 rebounds. As a caveat, Roy has never beaten the Spurs and very much wants to. It is possible we see a monster game from him.

The Rest:

Travis Outlaw may or may not explode. He'll be the X factor for this game, if he is on, Portland has a shot. If he is not on, well... it might be ugly.

Rudy Fernandez will be subbed in early and often. Expect to see a 3 guard lineup of Roy, Rudy, Blake for at least ~ 10 minutes. Rudy should do well against the Spurs who will be focused on Locking Down on LMA and Roy.Expect Rudy to drive a few times, attempt to finish an alley-oop, and knock down ~3 3ptrs on about 5 attempts.

I would predict that Bayless gets more minutes this game than Sergio Rodriguez. You'll see Sergio off the bench first, and we'll know within 2 ally-oop attempts, 2 three pointer attempts, and a turnover if he will play a lot or not. So ~5-7 minutes at worst, 18-25 at best.

After the third time Tony Parker blows past Rodriguez and gets sent to the line by Pryzbilla, Nate jerks Rodriguez and sends Bayless in for D.

Tony Parker should have a good night. I expect 18+ points at least.

I think for Portland, this game will come down to Rudy Fernandez and Outlaw. If they can hit open shots and divert enough attention away from Roy and LMA then Portland can squeak this one through.

Most likely probability? Final Score Portland 83, S.A. 87. San Antonio is in control much of the game, 3rd quarter spurt by Portland, and an attempted 4th quarter comeback keep it close, but execution in the final minutes gives the game to the Spurs.

So Gin-Obley is out?

I noticed him in street clothes at the Spurs-Phx game. What ails him?

Blazers 93 Spurs 87

We have a lackluster 1st quarter. Start 2nd quarter 11 points down. Crowd goes wild after Rudy comes in and Dunks or does some crazy pass. We are down 4 going into halftime. 3rd qt. we start rough but pull even at the end of it then turn up the heat during the 4 th qt were Roy and Outlaw score 10 points each.

did you see the spurs first game?

Parker and Duncan each had 32, while the rest of the team had like 15 points or some crap. We need to put the clamps on Duncan and Parker as much as possible to try and force the rest of that injury depleted team beat us.

good call

And I’ll bet Nate has that in his playbook. Tell the truth I’m kind of surprised that Duncan had that many points. I only saw the beginning of that game and He looked kind of tentative like he was out of shape.

I'd say the opposite

Let Duncan and Parker be the only guys who score, put the clamps on the rest. Two guys alone can’t win the game. Don’ let any f the other guys got hot from three.

This will be a tough game but we should keep this one close.

Rudy should start

and play a lot of minutes.
S.A. does not have anyone good on the wings right now. ( besides parker, of course)

I disagree

Rudy needs to come off the bench on Friday, the Spurs will start Parker, Bowen and Duncan, with Bowen on Roy ofcourse, by the time Rudy comes with the 2nd unit the tempo will pick up and they will have to rest these 3 at some point, that is when Rudy will GO OFF, 20+ points with 4+ assist for Rudy tonight is my prediction. The spurs are a 2 man team right now because of injuries.

I think we get the W

If we let Parker and Duncan get theirs while shutting everyone else down we have a very strong chance. We have a lot more weapons than them right now, so it all comes down to execution, and I don’t think our Blazers are going to allow themselves to be out-executed after the humiliation that was Tuesday.

Spurs 94-Blazers 88

Hope I’m wrong.

A win would be huge— we’d be right back on track.

Blazers 87 - Spurs 82

Low scoring game with the Spurs slow tempo. Watch them come out with a hack-A-pryz

by Stegie33 on Oct 30, 2008 2:45 PM PDT   0 recs

It’ll be close, we didn’t play bad against them last year, we just have to play 4 consistently good quarters. Last year we always kept it close or ahead until the last quarter. Can’t wait for the game.

blow out start to finish not

blazers prevail in the end

Clearing Room For The Blazers Out West

As the playoff picture begins to take shape it becomes clear that the Western Conference is one big game of musical chairs. There are nine viable playoff teams; unfortunately there are only eight playoff spots. For the Blazers to get a spot, one of last year's playoff teams needs to fall off. Someone's going to be caught standing when the music stops. The following are possible scenarios that could derail each team on their quest for playoff glory, helping the Blazers get back to the postseason for the first time since 2003.
