Junk Drawer 10/30/08- Trolling Free Edition (or so I hoped)! Now featuring: The long awaited Fatty appearance~

OK first things first. I am just as upset as everyone else about what has happened. In fact, I was on Bedge for more hours yesterday than I worked awaiting the official news. However, in all honesty the news could have been a lot worse than it was. The match ups that we were all looking forward to in the next few weeks(Duncan, Shaq, etc) will happen again this year. We wont hear his name called in the starting linup tomorrow night like we had hoped. But we will get through this guys! We will have a great season, barring any more injuries (cursed statement, I know). Tomorrow nights game will still be fun to watch (ummm…let’s hope the rest of the team actually plays).
Of all the things that bugged me the most yesterday, it came down to the trollers on this site! What happened in a 24 hour period here on Bedge??? Good lordy! Of course I fell into their trap and got ANGRY with their comments made. Finally I had to stop commenting back. One game into the season and 20 different posts about Oden…it’s enough to drive a person (ME!) crazy. So, can we take some time off today and discuss how great and fun tomorrow night’s game is going to be?
McFadden’s to anyone who wants to meet up prior to the game at 5:00 pm. I know Sophia, Andy, myself and TiH will for sure be there….how about you?
And DON’T FORGET TO WEAR RED to the game tomorrow night!
So Fatty has made an appearance for those of you who cared and waited a year with baited breath.

Since the JD post was so on topic
How abouts some Lil’ Wayne news to brighten up the morning?
Last week, when Lil Wayne, 26, became a father for the second time to baby boy Dwayne Michael Carter III, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, he wasn’t handing out cigars in the waiting room. He was right there in the delivery room.
“I delivered him. I held the left leg the whole time. It was nasty, very nasty, but it was wonderful.”
What a true man, delivering the baby no less! Oh wait..he just held the leg? Ummm, last time I looked that’s not delivering a baby. And who could ignore this great statement… “it was nasty, very nasty”.
New top song in the making?
When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Perhaps the baby came out bottom first?
That is called a breech birth if I remember right. They are dangerous because when the baby’s skin hits the air they inhale because its cold, which can be a problem if the head hasn’t come out yet.
Way back in in elementary school my 4th grade teacher found the need to tell us that he was born feet first. This didn’t strike me as odd at the time, but now I think that is really was TMI

I don't get any ads on SBN because I use Safari Adblock (sorry Dave, but I don't click on ads anyway)

Similar tools exist for all major browsers, e.g. Adblock plus. But probably you can’t install them in all work environments.

Yesterday was rough.
I visited the Bedge like I do every morning, but instead of staying on most of the day, I quickly left. I saw a bunch of fanposts about Oden and how everything’s gone to crap, then saw the trolling and figured it wasn’t a good place for my convalesence from the opening game. Now that we know Oden will be fine, however, hopefully the discussion will be more fruitful here today.

Lebron and Jay-z say get out and vote
James, Jay-Z energize rally for Obama at The Q
Is there really any chance James is not going to play for the Brooklyn nets? I say no, unless they win a championship and the feeling of accomplishment overwhelms him.
The “host” over at Fear the Sword wasn’t exactly stoked about it
While LeBron can surely do what he wants, I feel it is in bad taste to get “Cavs Insider” e-mails promoting what was a political rally. That’s just me.

The superstar exception
During the 3rd quarter, kobe drew a foul on Joel, which apparently set kobe in motion and the fakers never looked back.
My problem was the foul itself. What I saw was Joel standing near the foul line when an out of control kobe charged into Joel. Predictably the call went against Joel.
Even worse, Doug Collins kept going on and on about how Joel’s hard foul on kobe was the factor that caused bryant to erupt offensively. They never replayed the foul itself, but Collins kept repeating how that play made the difference.
Did anyone else see it the same way. (faker fan who wears bryant jersey to the Rose Garden need not reply)

by bow4meow on Oct 30, 2008 8:36 AM PDT 0 recs
My buddy and I thought the same thing
But Joel wasn’t 100% set so there was some grey area. If it wasn’t Kobe it could’ve gone either way, but see as it was, there was no way Joel was getting that call.

I’m right there with ya. Joel commits his fair share of hard fouls, but in that situation I don’t think Joel was in the wrong. It did show me just how strong Kobe the ‘freak’ really is though! I don’t think joels intention was to draw a charge though, he wanted to send a message to Kobe… to bad he set Kobe off instead. If he was trying to draw a charge he would have given us one of his famous flops. lol

Seriously, there was absolutely nothing hard about that foul. And setting K#be off? Anything will do that. He just wanted an excuse to run the game himself. Hey now, how about those Clippers huh? At least our “blowout” was small in comparison :)

I thought it was a fair screen
what changed the ref’s perception , besides the fouled being Kobe Bryant, was the flip of the forearm by Joel . It made it look as if Kobe was thrown way off when in reality he just flopped ..

fair screen ?
Joel wasn’t setting a screen, and no other players were nearby. I may be wrong, and would love to see the replay, but again, it looked to me like kobe just didnt see Joel and ran into him. Since Joel is a real man and kobe is (see below pic), so kobe was the one who flailed his arms while Joel just raised his arms, and in no way did Joel flip his forearm at kobe. kobe gets those calls and Doug Collins perpetuated the incident the rest of the game.
In the fourth quarter Channing got run over by Odom I think, and the ref’s called it in Frye who just stood there perplexed.
Its hard enough to beat the lakers fairly, and when the ref’s give him the continual benefit of the doubt, it gets aggravating. Im not saying that call was the difference, we got beat soundly.
But why the favoritism?
