Who is Really to blame?
The real issue here is not so much what happened last nite as Who Is To Blame for that embarassing performance. who not what, id like to put a face on this. i think once we determine where the true problem originated we can possibly correct them in the future. Did kp make the wrong move drafting GO? Should he have given more consideration to all his previous injuries and skeptical advice from scouts and med ppl who had these concerns. Was greg ever able to shoot the ball in his career? what about nate? other than one good season in seattle ...the sonics were losers. did he do enough to prepare the players before the game. what about changing the starting roster before the game? Did we even have a starting lineup before the game? winners win. obviously roy and aldridge didnt have their best game but is it thier fault or ours for having such high expectations of them. They say the lakers are soft but come on, we are (softer) still. is la to soft, is brandon too slow, do both lack the killer instinct? i mean when you constantly refer to your guys as allstar calliber when there are 6+ other guys around that play your position who are better than you... . I want to know? the only thing i know is it wasnt rudy.

Roy and to a lesser extent Aldridge were to blame
not that blame is the right word. They were responsible. When they flounder, the team loses.

It's one game
don’t overanalyze it too much. The L*kers have a much better, more experienced team than we do. They have the best player in the world on their team (though it pains me to say it). The last time they took the court, they saw their opponent blow them out of the building by 40 points and hoist the golden trophy. They came with a mission and were ready to play. Theird defense was intense.
The Blazers…came nervous, rushed, unsettled, uncertain in their plan (see lineup change), got off to a poor start, were shell-shocked, and never got it together. In short, our inexperience combined with the weight of expectations and a big opening night stage were just too much for us. Hopefully we learn from it and move on to better things.

Dude.
We lost to the defending Western Conference Champions on their homecourt. You built it up too much if you’re looking to blame people.
NO BIG DEAL.

I am to blame
I was supposed to box out Derek Fisher for that rebound, but instead he got underneath Oden and accidentally caused that sprain. If only I was half a foot taller, and actually good at basketball, I could have helped win that game last night. Sorry, guys.

The Player's Parents
100% of the blame goes to all of our player’s parents, for not conceiving and bearing all these players 3-5 years earlier. This Blazers team is virtually tied with one other team as youngest in the NBA. We started the game missing one starter (Webster) and another starter (Oden) went down and didn’t play a majority of the game. We were playing a Lakers team with 3 of their 4 best players in the primes of their careers. A much more experience, seasoned team which is completely healthy, on their home court. This team is built to be expected to win these big games in the future, not right now.

The Lakers Just Brought It
They are experienced + in their homecourt. They heard all the talk about blazers and were ready for a battle whereas portland was there just to play a game. Oden foot was just unlucky

Mike Rice
When Mike Rice isn’t at the game, Nate has no one to consult with about in game adjustments.

I expected a win.
but as some of our wiser folks pointed out, tha’d have been my fault. We’ll be fine. until we hit that 0-5 mark then I might start wanting to blame someone, maybe even burn someone at a stake, ya never know what direction the wind will blow these day’s around portland. ;) where’s the guy who asked if we were a fickle mob?

I blame Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad...
that jerk is all offence and no defence. You just can’t get any more offensive than than that jerk!
What that doesn’t work for you? Bummer.
Lets just hope that the team was embarrassed enough to not want a repeat Friday night.
