Hi friendly BEdgers! I was just thinking about the great contributors who frequent this site. Some are exceedingly witty and clever in their remarks, others have fantastic Blazer related stories to share, and still others put in a lot of hard work to provide insightful analysis. Some fortunate souls bring all of these enviable talents to the table. As a reward, these individuals receive accolades from the rest of us in the form of rec'd posts.

Then there is the rest of us. Perhaps we think our content is valuable, but few others agree. Or maybe we know we're not bringing much to the party but like to hang out anyway. Never had a post garner enough recs to turn it an envious green? Good chance you never will? Well your luck has just turned, my friends! Here's your golden chance to sport a moldy post! Here's the way I see it.

In most posts, BEdgers are just too stingy with the rec. How often do you see a post turn legitimately green? Not often enough in my opinion (excluding all the clearly warranted posts in this thread). Maybe this little exercise will loosen up those trigger fingers. Lets make more green posts, people! It may just save the earth! Don’t you save the earth if you’re green? I read that somewhere.

I liken it to how people are hesitant or unprepared to honk in Portland. Maybe it’s because we try to be so pathetically nice to one another, so don’t dare honk short of someone backing into a gaggle of grandmothers volunteering to knit sweaters for a children’s hospital. But you gotta practice in order to be quick on the horn, and some people never honk in less than absolutely necessary circumstances, and hence the honking action is foreign to them when the situation really warrants it. Gotta be quick with the honk! Use it or lose it. Reflexively hammering into the horn at a moment’s notice may just save somebody’s grandmother’s life.
