Gees Ben

Why don’t you get out there and do some reporting for yourself, instead of just riding everyone’s coat tail?

;-) Ok totally kidding. THAT IS AWESOME! I don’t know if we’re going man or zone or both, but this is going to be crazy to see a 19 year old rookie potentially guarding one of the greatest to ever play the game….K*be Bryant. I despise the guy, but he has mad skills and it will be insane to see Batum go up against him.

Hope you had a good vacation dude!

Batum will get early test

It is guaranteed that Phil Jackson will instruct whoever is guarding Batum—I think it is Radmanovic—to leave him wide open and to help with the team defense until Batum makes a shot. No better way to put maximum pressure on a Rookie Starting Opening Night on National TV and take the ball out of 4 pairs of steadier hands. If he makes one of the first few, we’re fine, if not, it’s trouble.

It´s Lakers´ trouble coming off our bench.

Sergio + Rudy = 16
Sergio + Bayless = 16
Batum 8+8=16

I didn't call it

How come no one every says that when something is contrary to what they expected?

Eh, howzit, brah. You get any da kine?

I called it

I mean, I called the fact that I would fail to call this.

by pualo on Oct 27, 2008 3:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I can't believe Batum is starting

What odds would you have gotten on that after summer league?

I understand Nate’s reasoning, but I hope he doesn’t hesitate to go to Outlaw or Rudy, and by not hesitate I mean make the switch within 5 minutes.

Or Channing

Which is asking a lot from a guy who has never played the 3,its called on the job training,Nate knows what he is doing.

I am just hoping...

That as a team, plus a little Batum on Kobe will help limit Mr. MVP’s scoring against the Blazers, which was at 37 last season, the highest of any western conference team.

by PtownJake on Oct 27, 2008 11:04 PM PDT reply actions

well

Nate also started Charles Smith in the season opener a few years ago and then Sergei Monia in the home opener, so my feelings are a little bit mixed about this. Obviously, that team is terrible, but Nate showing confidence in someone and giving them a start certainly doesn’t mean that they’ve “arrived” necessarily.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
