I wish someone would tell me why
when we’re talking about Oden, it is big men that take longer to develop, and when we are talking about Bayless it is PGs that take longer to develop.
I have a theory. One of them is not going to take longer than the other one to develop. It’s just a theory. I could be wrong. They might tie in how long they take to develop.
But since I have that theory, I actually expect one of them to be very good by the end of this year, whatever the experts say about who takes longer to develop.
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

I thought it was implied that they both take longer than fruit flies.
See, fruit flies have a very rapid reproduction cycle, and both big men and small men and even medium-whelming men take longer to develop.

You see its always the wing that develops the fastest
for example Martell and Trout

Oh
I forgot that. I’m starting to catch on to this now.
It sure took Kareem and Russell and Hakeem a long time to develop. Oh, and David Robinson, too.
Henry is brilliant and does good analysis generally, as well as just being an excellent writer. But this big men take longer to develop is spurious, I think. If he’s going to be really good, he’s going to be really good.

well..I think the "big man" can take a bit longer
Not that all these guys aren’t big :-)…but those who are depending on bulk and pure power, our strength peaks biologically around age 27 or so..Robinson went into naval acad at 6’6" and came out over 7ft..he is a rare case, but a good illustration..
Skill sets will develop based on a number of factors – brains, co-ordination, coaching..but when sheer size is a vital component, it lends the credence to the slower development thing.
All that said, Oden’s upside is fairly limitless.

Also
Oden was nowhere near foul trouble all pre-season. Now, his minutes were limited, but WHATEVA
Also, the Bedge linking to this might get more comments than the true hoop (nationally read) article itself.
