If Portland only wins 45-46 games, Nate is not Coach of the Year. For those who think he is going to win that, we’ll have to win over 50, and probably 53 or more.

The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

Agreed, but that's fair

because COY often goes to the coach of a team that exceeds expectations. A lot of pundits, including Dave, are predicting we will win no more than 45-46 games, so 50 is the magic number.

50 seems to be just past the threshold, that experts have been willing to go.

Good thing we're gonna win 50+!

A LOT of the votes for COY and EOY are just what the current hype and meme’s are, and right now the vote would definitely go to Nate and KP even without any games played.

After several months and 82 games, who knows what the popular choice becomes.

HOWEVER, when we win 50 and Nate handles all of the young talent with equals parts aplomb and nice suits, he’ll walk away with COY. If not, that’s ok. We still won 50 games.

KP could win EOY, but that’s such a silly award… good Executives take years to set up their team, not a year. The award is given yearly as if the turnaround is that short. For Ainge it works, but not for real GMs.

You're being unfair to Ainge, Mort.

Danny had to get McHale drunk many times over the years before he finally got him to say yes to that deal.

That's why we need 55

Then, there’s no doubt who gets COY and EOY.

Well, that and 55 wins is more fun than 53, quite a bit more fun than 50, and tons more fun than 45.

I just said that because of all these silly realists talking about 45, when deep down everyone is hoping and half expecting more, but they are just afraid to say so. And then they talk about Nate as COY candidate (like ESPN did), but don’t have the courage to predict the number of wins we would need for Nate to even be in the discussion.

If we get 45 wins, lots of people will think Nate actually didn’t do that good of a job.

But there’s an even more important reason why we need 55 wins. It’s because I predicted 55. That really should settle the matter. I will forgive them making me look bad by winning more than that, but not by winning less. So there you have it.

The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
