Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Sports Illustrated

Every Thursday I go out to my mailbox and grab the new issue of SI. Today I pick it up and i was initially filled with rage as K*be graced the cover.  But upon further reading I noticed that in fact he got no extra love, however, Two players did. Greg Oden and Rudy.  Oden got a multipage article with some great pictures and Rudy has a nice little insert.  While reading the article I noticed something wonderful.

"A few weeks before the season, Oden elected to lower his profile, even rejecting a request to pose for the cover of this issue"

That allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that it should have been greg on that cover.

Unfortanetly it just made me more antsy for the season and I wish i could speed up time until tueday

Why...

Would he not want to be on the cover?

Yeah . . .

. . . he’s saving it for the swimsuit issue.

Because he's already suffered one season-ending injury.

Seriously now, here's what he said:
There are a lot of players who deserve to be on the cover more than me," he explains between rare bites. "It’s time I started earning some things.

Instead they put Durant on the cover (the "Ben's collector edition)

Or you can get it with Kobe (like noam did), LeBron, Brand, KG, or Howard.

Here you can see the different covers in all their beauty: http://the4thquarter.net/2008/10/22/sports-illustrated-nba-preview-covers/

P.S.: And what do the covers have in common: The World Series and a photo of Greg.

So technically he is on the cover. On all of them.

Good reporting as always from Norsktroll. Who else is going to dig up the info for me?

what did KG do to his hand?

Did he have an off-season accident with a buzz saw that was unreported?

Oden still has no ego issues...

But cuby? Nothin’ but ego.

Thanks!

I was going to ask what it said.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

I'm starting to think that

Greg Oden is kind of a big deal.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
