Kobe hyperextends his knee

Probably not to big of deal but i do know that sometimes hyperextending your knee can tear your ACL. We can all hope. :)

i never wish a torn ACL on any athlete. not even the F*kers rapist star player, but i wouldnt mind if he was out on oct 28th so the blazers can take advantage of some national spotlight.

NOOO I WANT KOBE in

So he can taste the bile in his mouth after Greg Oden jams it right in his FACE

agreed

whats with people wishing harm onto others? its just an effing game, these are people we are talking about, not enemies at war. i want the blazers to play the best team that is playing their best in the championships. not against battered down team plagued with injuries.

by Philthyanimal on Oct 22, 2008 8:29 AM PDT up reply actions

Additionally

Deron Williams might miss the first Blazer-Jazz game in early Nov. We know the pain of injuries (metaphorically and literally) better than any franchise, so it’s a shame to see guys go down. However, no one cried for us when Oden went down. So, if they’re out, they’re out, let’s win those games. If they’re not…..well, let’s win those games anyway.

Also I might remind again

that Williams is on my fantasy team! He was my second round pick! My bench is thin, how will I replace him….

I hope his ACl isn't torn.

I want to beat the Lakers at full strength on the 28th. It’s so much more satisfying to beat a team that is healthy.

by Cablinasian on Oct 21, 2008 10:10 PM PDT reply actions

Agreed

Take it easy on wishing other teams injuries. Its bad Karma.

yeah

I don’t want to hear any excuses on the 29th. and we’re supposed to be better than the laker fans dude, take it easy with the “we can all hope” when you’re talking about wishing injury on another team’s player.

don't drink the Hateraide.

every hero needs a villain, and vice versa.

Here’s to K@be being healthy all season, and here’s to the Blazers beating the L@kers 8 times this year.

just messing around, my bet is he’ll be fine anyways

If he did hyperextend it really bad, he'd be out 8-10 weeks

I know Shaq was out for that long a couple years back due to a severe hyperextension.

With that said, if it’s minor it’ll only be a week or so, maybe even a couple days. If he can play with a broken pinky, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play with one leg.

by prezofdeath on Oct 21, 2008 11:36 PM PDT reply actions

shaq was probably out that long

due to his “doughnut a day” rehab routine. Bryant runs sprints and practices free throws while we all sleep. He’ll be back sooner than later.

I think Shaq might weigh a few lbs more than Kobe as well.

That would probably slow down the recovery on a knee injury.

We haven't heard from team doctors

but I thought I’d link an article about hyperextention anyway.

Most important quote:
Avoiding sports and other activities that could further injure the knee is vital as the knee heals. In most cases, resting the leg for two to four weeks is recommended depending on the extent of the injury.

Word.

A rec for both.

This seems to be the only clue on the page regarding how long he may be out.

Injuries detract from the game, and hoping for injuries detracts from the person.

The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

I want Kobe healthy.

The Lakers are not the Lakers without him. Beating them with no Kobe means nothing. Besides I don’t wish injury on any players, except maybe Vujacic…

by Bskey on Oct 22, 2008 2:12 AM PDT reply actions

That said.

This could be good for us to start the season strong and get tons of confidence mushed into the heads of our young team.

On the other hand if the Lakers beat us without Kobe it will just be even harder to deal with “that” type of laker fan.

by Bskey on Oct 22, 2008 2:14 AM PDT up reply actions

Ow...

I’m sorry for Kobe. One, because nobody deserves a knee injury (except Nancy Kerrigan) and two, because as Bskey pointed out, beating the Lakers without Kobe is not as sweet or as much of an achievement.

If he’s out for an extended period of time, he’d be smart to get surgery on his finger as well.

I’m just glad this happened before my fantasy basketball draft… dodged a bullet there!

Injuries are part of the game

If we steal a game or 2 because Deron or Kobe is hurt thats just the luck of the draw.If we lose a game or 2 because Martell is hurt, same same.Gloating about it aint cool.

by southern oregon on Oct 22, 2008 9:53 AM PDT up reply actions

Agreed!

It won’t be as much fun beating the F*kers without Boobie Cryant….as my boyz so affectionately call him! I don’t want any excuses of why they lost…and how can Rudy dominate him…and Greg reject him if he is not in? We need to get this show started on the right track!

by blazersrock on Oct 22, 2008 11:18 AM PDT reply actions

A win is a win in my book.

I’d love to beat them while he plays, but in the end, I’ll take the win.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

by OCBlazerFan1 on Oct 22, 2008 11:37 AM PDT reply actions

Short-handed teams can be hard to beat!

How many times have we seen teams play with more determination when one of their principals is missing? The other team members feels they have something to prove, and there’s also an unfortunate subconscious tendency to not play quite as hard against such opponents.

As for missing principles, that’s been covered above, and I guess I agree … even though K@be is the player that many of us most like to hate.

Finally, when this season’s all over with, it would be great to not have any asterisks detracting from the Blazers’ accomplishments. The sooner the Blazers are tested against the best, the sooner they can BE the best.

The latest update that I've seen

says the Lakers aren’t even going to do an MRI on Kobe’s knee and he’s listed as day to day.

I don’t get that. Why would you not do an MRI just in case? Maybe they’re just saying that so it doesn’t become a big deal.

Once again

the Latest word is that Kobe is basically fine. Some ice, a few days rest. Expect to see him play in the opener.
