can we ease up on he WTFs and the OMFGs and stuff with the F in it? Technically abbreviated profanity isn’t allowed here either. I’ve been lax on it lately but with the regular season starting and 20 billion readers and comments coming it’s probably good to stop now rather than after 1,000,000 repetitions.

Oden is in a difficult position now
whenever he gets it he is immediatly double teamed and makes the nice pass. Once teams know that he can pass out of a 2x he will get better. Of course teams may want to take Oden away from O but we can manage without O from Oden

Two disturbing things:
-Batum is having a poor game. My guess is too many nerves and he’s trying too hard.
-The big thing that bothers me is that they have the same style as last year: jump shooting, no points in the paint, no fast breaking.

Batum is having a good game, I think
His hands and feet are moving and he’s taking appropriate shots at appropriate times.
I guess it’s a matter of what you expect. If you’re looking for him to burn up the boxscore or be able to handle guys like Kevin Martin, he’s not going to be able to do that. We don’t even know how he’d fare in his 5th or 6th year, let alone as a rookie. But considering who Batum is, how much he has to learn, and who he’s matched up against he’s doing fine.

we see his faults
because of all the time we spend analyzing him. They just see him devastating their team, always needing a double team, passing out of them well and then making 6/7 at the line.

I think that's the issue.
We viewed Oden as a franchise savior and all, but I don’t think many people expected cartoonish numbers the first few games of his rookie year.
People need to take a few breaths and appreciate who Oden will be in the future.

Last season I remember a lot of games like this...
Where the Blazers would be down 6, 8 in the 4th and I’d be there begging them to just light up the afterburners and go on a run. It feels nice being the ones up by 12.

He is still able to guard opposing PG’s and he can get to the hoop. We could bring him in during games in which we need a spark.

to go and where to look….looked fast….one play in particular ran the ball straight down the floor to just past the foul line, got the D to collapse a step and hit Rudy for the 3…..very nice….good timing…good move,ment

I still prefer Bayless, actually
You think Rose would necessarily be getting PT? Bayless sitting the bench doesn’t change anything about him being the better fit for this team. He still has a better J. He’s still better off the ball. He’s still got a more refined game.
Maybe Rose will tear it up and change my mind. He’s certainly an athlete. But he’s not a PG yet. (Just like Bayless – which is why he’s not playing… )

Bayless would be starting on just about any team in the lottery but Portland. Did you see how good the team looked.
Everyone meshed together and for some reason Bayless seems to not get the system yet. When he starts utilizing his game and plays with in the system he will be good.
There will be an injury this year. Bayless will get his minutes.

Just got back from the bar
Did Kevin Martin change his name to Dwyane Wade? Because it seems like the refs were all about putting him on the line whether or not he was fouled. Pitiful defense on him by several players, most disappointingly Rudy. This could be troubling. Blake was solid but unspectacular, Batum had his moments, but was also used up by Martin. Sergio looks like a different player with Rudy on the floor. Bayless won’t be happy if he only gets 5 minutes a game (S-Rod last year). Travis absolutely needs to get off my team. He can’t spot up from anywhere. He’s a 1 skill guy, and he only scores at a 43% rate at that one thing. That isn’t good enough for this team. Joel is such a limited player on offense, it really hinders what we can do. Channing looked great on offense, but struggled staying with people on the defensive end. Oden looks like he needs to lose 15 lbs before we’ll know anything more about him. He simply never should have been that big to begin with. Steady changes… they let him put too much non-muscle weight on.
Its nice to win a game (even if it is just the Kings) comfortably when you play your C- game.
It's interesting.
We shored up our rebounding pretty well, but 20 assists on 39 made field goals could be improved. Nice to see Oden and Aldridge with 8 assists between them.
