So I had to remove the story because of a couple of reactions I received. I don't know why people are reacting in this way, but I don't want people having the wrong idea about our guys.

They were at a place, not drinking and not being bad in any way, shape or form. But I guess it gives people a story to gossip about.

In other news, Lil Wayne is having a son. Tampa Bay beat out the Red Sox last night and are heading to the World Series and a Beaverton man shot his wife in the stomach. Good times.

Happy Monday

I think this is all a bit too much of a coincidence.....

Are you sure you didn’t plant a GPS unit on Rudy at the airport? Who left first, you and your friend or the Rudy and co….

"From Bill Walton to Brandon Roy, we wanna know it all
From Clyde Drexler to Greg Oden, from the basket to the ball
Every move they make is covered, somebody make the call
The shot clock's always running at Blazers Edge"

No, no GPS

Good idea though :)

They left first. Hill and Tatum stayed behind for a bit but the main guys left after being there for probably an hour or so.

When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Man I love him.

Just let us know

When you have the next “chance” meeting with Rudy. At least Rudy’s mom wasn’t there.

Twiggs, thanks for the memories!

You know, this is a once in a life time, tell your grand children, experience!
Blazer fans are the best. Don’t we have some good looking players!?! Glad that everyone was playing it smart at the strip club.

I got an autograph from Rudy at the airport and a high five. He was very gracious. Total class. Of course, Channing can do no wrong! Did you get any pics?

Nice episode. And glad to hear that's not Rudy's usual scene on a workday-night.

Tatum was released that day, so maybe they wanted to say goodbye to him. Or Sergio has run out of spots he can show Rudy ;-)
Anyway, good stalking for somebody who doesn’t stalk.

I wouldn't want a pic of them at a place like that to get out

And for people to have the wrong idea. Leave it to people to take information and run with it. I probably shouldn’t have even put it in print that they were at a strip club. That’s why I have to insist that they were being good boys.

And I knew you all would just appreciate hearing about it. But yeah, like you said, for not being a stalker I am pretty good at it.

did you ask them whose idea it was to go to that strip club?

Just wondering which of them has ZBoesque impulses.

Their 'thinking' is based not on critical judgment, but on what authority figures have said to them.

Many of them would attack France, Massachusetts, or the moon if the president said it was necessary "for freedom."

Highly compliant with social conventions, pro-conformity. Feel safer in the presence of powerful authorities. Often highly religious, zealous, dogmatic, moralistic, moderate to little education, narrow-minded, intolerant, highly prejudiced, hostile and bigoted towards minorities, bullying, mean-spirited, severely punitive, panic easily.

As distasteful as these qualities appear, for authoritarians they can be (secretly or even openly) very attractive.

Twiggs...

Did you ever post that pic of you and your friend with Rudy? I think it’d be cool to see pics Bedgers have with Blazer players..

Sidenote: I had an ex gf who LOVED to go to strip clubs with me (the Acrop and Stars were her favorites). She’d even give me $1s to put on stage. That was one of only a few positives of a gf who ended up being a total psycho. ;-)

(P.S. I once sat next to Alan Cummings (of stage and X-Men 2 fame) at Stars.)

Hollinger's

2008-2009 All-Breakout team.

No Blazers made this list, in fact I’m pretty sure the Blazers are not mentioned in this article at all. However, at the end of the article, Hollinger makes a prediction which would seriously improve Portland’s playoff aspirations.

He states that the East will win more total games than the West this year (citing a host of reasons). The most intriguing of these is this:

Age. The Western powers are getting up in years and starting to show their cracks, particularly the trinity of Phoenix, San Antonio and Dallas. The three of them could end up dropping 25 wins from the West’s total.

If the Suns, Spurs, and Mavs drop 25 wins between them (and the wins dropped were averaged between them), it would put them around 48, 49, and 43 wins, respectively. I can’t help but think this opens up BIG opportunities for our young Blazers.

Word.

by joelor on Oct 20, 2008 10:36 AM PDT reply actions

Hollinger really goes out on a limb:

Deron Williams, Rudy Gay, Amare Stoudemire, Joe Johnson. Yeah, those guys might “breakout”. Bold. How can LaMarcus not be on the list with the other “stealth All Star” guys?

by DrivetheLane on Oct 20, 2008 10:46 AM PDT up reply actions

Hollinger is a moron.

he relies exclusively on stats to make his predictions. I don’t think he knows what defense is even if he was chanting it along with the rest of the crowd at the garden in a preseason game.

On MY screen it shows I bet YOU.

On your screen, did you beat me?

I am just curious, I will relinquish the victory to you if I can solve this mystery. Just wondering if the screen is the same for all.

I thought Death Proof

was good. That car chase scene was the balls. And the very last scene involving Rosario Dawson’s heel was pretty awesome too. It was a little talky I guess, but isn’t that sort of QT’s MO?

by DrivetheLane on Oct 20, 2008 2:01 PM PDT up reply actions

It was good, but not as good as Planet Terror

When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Planet Terror was ok.

It just wasn’t as engaging to me. Except the part where the zombies blow up when the truck hits them. That was sweet. But it’s never cool seeing anyone’s man-bits melt off. Though watching Grindhouse in the theater was one of the better movie-going experiences I’ve ever had. That trailer called Thanksgiving that Eli Roth did was almost as good as either movie. So was the one called Machete about the immigrant yard worker with the awesome moustache.

On Saturday I was an "All-Night Horror Fest"

at a quirky, cult-classic-loving theater in Hollywood. The movie list was as follows:

Creepers (Or Phenonema internationally) – 1985

The House on Sorority Row – 1983

Zombi – 1979 (Classic in which a zombie fights a shark)

Teenage Mother
– 1967

House – 1986

The Power – 1984

and the incomparable Raw Force – 1982

Needless to say, it was pretty incredible.

I named my son after Quentin Tarantino

Planet Terror was done by robert rodriguez (remember the film was a double feature w/ the horror one done by rodriguez and the other one done by Tarantino?)

Oh well, I still love me some Q-Tip over the topness (for ACTUAL examples see Kill Bill and From Dusk til Dawn).

hate to break it to ya

From Dusk till Dawn was Robert Rodriguez also

He is Tarantinos sidekick..

But Rodriguez did make Desperado which was awesome, and El Mariachi, which is what it was based on. :)

ROBERT RODRIGUEZ DID FROM DUSK TILL DAWN

Geez you really love Rodriguez but think you love Q-Dogg!!

No, I know, he wrote Dusk til Dawn. Rodriguez’s over the top directorial style made it the fun-ness though.

I like Tarantino too, I just thought Death Proof was not the bee’s knees. More like the bee’s ruptured appendix.

Mortimer

by Mortimer on Oct 20, 2008 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions

I pretty much like anything Tarantino is invoved in

Writing, directing, producing, promoting, acting in….

But thanks for the education on Rodriguez, I forgot he did Planet Terror.

Did you know that QT was supposed to direct an X-Files episode? I never knew that until I just Wiki-ed him out of curiousity. I loved X-Files, how abouts everyone else?

When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Man I love him.

by twiggs on Oct 20, 2008 2:17 PM PDT up reply actions

I know QT did an Alias episode once

I didn’t know about X-Files!

X-Files is a show I should like and probably would but I never got around to watching it. My family loves it though.

Which Kill Bill did you like better? I liked 1 bunches more than 2.

Did you even like DESTINY TURNS ON THE RADIO? That might challenge anyone’s QT love.

Four Rooms is kinda bad too, though I like Rodriguez’s segment with the two little kids and the dead whore in the mattress.

Mortimer

by Mortimer on Oct 20, 2008 2:20 PM PDT up reply actions

I've never heard of Destiny Turns on the Radio.

did he write that one? I’m with you on X-Files. What I’ve seen, I liked. But I haven’t seen much.

by DrivetheLane on Oct 20, 2008 2:21 PM PDT up reply actions

He didn't write it

It was his big chance to ACT in a movie and not direct or write.

It was pretty soon after his Pulp Fiction splash.

I think it was pretty awful.

It’s been a looooooong time since I saw it though.

Mortimer

by Mortimer on Oct 20, 2008 2:28 PM PDT up reply actions

I loved 4 Rooms

Very entertaining movie (the dead whore story is MY favorite too!!!)

X-Files is one of my favorite shows EVER. It got too conspiracyish for me after the 5th season though. But up til then, it’s good times I tell ya.

When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Man I love him.

by twiggs on Oct 20, 2008 2:24 PM PDT up reply actions

It seems like I've seen 4 Rooms a lot of times

Maybe because it was always on Starz growing up.

I like it, but I really only like the Dead Whore segment, and the rest of them I’m just waiting for that segment to start.

The Tarantino segment is just a Twilight Zone episode (or is it a Hitchcock episode?), so it’s not as cool as the Dead Whore one.

I think Rodriguez is a very fun director but a lazy writer. All of his auteur movies have looked great but coulda’ been so much better if he worked with a good writer. That’s prolly why his work with Tarantino has been pretty good.

Favorite Zombie movie?

I like 28 Days Later and the remake of Dawn of the Dead that came out a couple years back for recent zombie flicks.

Old ones include anything by George Romero.

28 Days Later made me mad

All zombies are dumb, then that movie somehow has a stalker zombie? Hello! Junk.

Old and new Dawn of the Dead are good.
Evil Dead II is probably the best ever.
Day of the Dead is classic.
The Return of the Living Dead was my first zombie movie, and holds a special place in my heart.

Do you have a survival plan for a zombie attack? I do.

Eh, howzit, brah. You get any da kine?

Me too

I got a friend whose dad is a militia type guy. Hole up there, shoot zombies, and wait for evolution to allow us men to impregnate other men to keep our species alive.

We just gotta paint evolution in a corner for it to work!

I often wish 10 million people here in LA would become zombies and we could just kill everyone without legal concerns. After it was over, there’d still be like 4 million people and it’d still be a pretty big town. Just a lotta of the scruff washed out, making it nicer.

Trader Joes wouldn’t be so damn crowded, which is reason enough to murder 10 million people or so.

The Zombie Survival Guide

Also, if you’d like to know how the zombie outbreak will finally occur, how global governments respond, and generally your own chance of survival, you should pick up the historically (future historically?) accurate World War Z.

World War Z is great, just great.

I particularly like it because, in one particular few pages, he discusses how a group of students from the Claremont Colleges (I went to Claremont McKenna) hole up in one of the enclosed campuses after raiding the ROTC weapons facility and defend themselves against the hordes for months by reactivating an old well and cultivating crops in the campus gardens.

Needless to say, I knew where I am headed when the zombies come.

I love gore. And if someone is getting shot in the head, I’m there.

But torture-porn ain’t my style.

I ain’t done n’ gone seen the Saw movies yet, though I was given the 1st one for a present years ago. I thought Hostel was gonna just be torture porn but I liked it okay, so maybe Saw is fine. Who can say?

It’s gonna take like 5 years before Saw develops to a point where we can affirmatively say it is a good movie or not. Maybe even then, it’s a good movie but doesn’t fit us and has to be traded.

Who knows.

OT-- Did you cry?

I ask honestly because at the release my mom (ok with the momma’s boy jokes) pretty much insisted I attend it with her. So during the viciousness she actually wept. Several other people in the crowd were also sniffling and pulling kleenex. I didnt didnt elicit the same reaction from me, but still I felt it. Dont get me wrong, I can cry. So what did you think of Schindlers List, or say, The Pianist? You neednt reply if you think im being emotionally insensitive. I mean, technically you brought it up.

Williams might be unavailable for our first game @Utah
As a result of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) testing conducted on Williams’ ankle earlier today, Jazz team physician Dr. Lyle Mason has determined that Williams suffered a second degree inversion sprain. The MRI also showed all bone structure and tendons in and around the ankle to be normal.

The time frame for Williams’ return to action is a minimum of two weeks.
