hmm
i dont see why you couldnt do that…but at the same time you could just do channelsurfing.net or sopcast and stream the games without your brother. i’m not sure of the quality differences, but i’m satisfied with sopcast and its free.

I guess the quality difference would be huge and very reliable
Slingbox is a full service offering, hardware and software. Sopcast and such p2p programs are done by some Chinese coders putting together a software that then gets used by people with fairly limited bandwidth. I’m on business in Europe, and last year it was pretty bad in my opinion. A few guys on Justin.tv had bearable streams during the playoffs, but they can be pulled without notice. I would instantly pay for a high-quality online service similar to what NBC did during the Olympics. League pass isn’t offered outside of the states. I can get a channel called NASN, but they only have the rights to baseball, college basketball, and football. I so wish they had NBA rights, cause they usually show several games at one day just taking over what ESPN, FOX, CBS, etc. is showing.

haha...
I’m in the middle east and in the same boat as you. Let me know what works for you, because I’m always searching for a solution. I had a friend’s login from NY last year on league pass and it was awesome, until they cracked down on login sharing and required me to fax in some info about my account in order to varify. So that put a stop to it at the end of the year. But for most of the season I had full access to the Blazers along with the archive, while my dad back home couldn’t see anything. It was rather comical. I’m hoping my friend’s login works this year… we’ll see.

it works...
I live overseas… a friend of mine here hooked up to a slingbox in Houston and it’s working just fine for him. I couldn’t tell you all the details, but you can make it happen. And whatever is available on their tv, you can watch as well. However, the catch here is that whoever controls the tv, controls what you watch. If their tv is not on, then you have full control of what you want to watch. But when they turn it on you are subject to whatever channel surfing they do. But if they watch the blazers, then you are set.
Or, if your bro has league pass then get his login info and you should be able to watch online. But if he’s in the Portland area then I think his league pass is subject to blackout for home games.
www.justin.tv or channelsurfing.net try these out come basketball season and see if you can get some live bball streaming. It works like a charm for the NFL. I’m spreading the word on this site because it’s kickin butt for me.

Yeah I decided to cut the crapcast after the season ended,
and have been saving $60/mo. I am in the process of setting up a slingbox on my parents Dish Network DVR and while they live in Idaho, they would be able to get CSNW if and when it comes to Dish.
If you want to stream just regular cable look for a slingbox AV as it only has component hookups and is the cheapest. I just got a used one on ebay for $100 or so. If you want to try and stream HD you have to get a more expensive box and from what I have heard due to the feed being over the internet, depending on your bros upload speed and your DL speed HD vs SD is not that much of a difference.
Your bro will have to get another cable box for like an extra $5/mo or whatever as your slingbox will canabilize that cable box. Also if your bro DLs a lot of files his speed may be hurt having to UL your sling stream.
One last bit of advice: See if you can pitch in and get your bro to get Verizon FIOS or Qwest fiberoptic if it is avalible in your hood. You can get like 15mbs dl and 5mbs ul which is more than enough to ul your sling content at a rate more than you can DL and will not affect his DL rate.
The season cannot get here soon enough.
