tuning up my 350......
Maybe it's just my brain on drugs, but.....
It seems to me that the entire NBA over the last few seasons is alot like an old unmaintained 350 chevy engine. Reliable as hell, but full of oil leaks and burnt seals.
With that in mind, over this last summer, the engine(nba) finally was seen for what it was, a motor that needed to be overhauled, I don't mean by changing spark-plugs(rules) or changing the oil (re-sorting of team members), but I mean a full blown over haul (collective eye opener) for the once-upon a time old iron heads (marquee players )....they ain't getting any younger, and to maintain their elite status they are going to actually have to match the effort put in by some of the soon to be rising aluminum heads (younger players) of the motor world (league).
A fine example would be our entire roster, none of em save roy and aldridge are heralded as elite...yet. But the effort and time they put into polishing(practicing) their intake (skills), is almost unrivaled in today's common Engine (N.B.A.). The older iron heads (kg, ai's of the league) have thrived on doing that they do, no extra effort needed to be put in, as the world was going to turn no matter what they did. They were for a while deemed untouchable, or un-challengeable as far as their supremacy of the NBA goes. Times have changed, and I believe they have noticed.
With that said.
Will our season be more difficult than it was last season. Last season we had the privilege of being fairly unknown. We were the super sneaky f-22 raptor flying high and obvious, but yet no one picked us up on their radar. This season I believe that we are the team that sets that bar in most teams persona, "if we can't beat the trailblazers then we suck" kind of attitudes, we have that target on our jerseys, and ALL other teams will be gunning for us. i.e....
ratcheting down on their engines just a bit more than they would, to stay with the joneses....
My question is.... is our Team ready to compete on the highest level of basketball in the world (now that the older fellows tightened up their rigs)?
If last season was indeed a "fouled up engine" and this season is a " finely tuned racing motor", will this season be that much more difficult than last, or is our team's nitrous oxide (rudy/bayless), and supercharger (greg) enough to keep us ahead of the rest of the pack?
hype or ......truth.
do tell?p.s. personal note, I've been lurking this site for the past 2 years, I can attest to the effort that dave and company put into keeping this a civil and wonderful place to talk about the team, there is no other team that has commited'er people to the quality of the news being reported. (trust me I've looked long and hard) if it's blazer new's there isn't any other place I'd rather read it. Thank every last one of YOU for entertaining me for the past few years.
p.p.s. I'm not a great mechanic if my technical terms don't make any sense.

Great job.
Being the son of a mechanic, like the Chevy 350 references. But I’m more of a 351 Windsor man myself!
I don’t think we will be ready this year, but I think we’ll make it to the finals within the next three years.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
this year Hornets
I predict that we will this season’s Hornets of last season. A young team that just missed the playoffs the year before, but play really well but falls short in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
On a similar note, its intersting that the Blazers set the current bar for a rebuilding team. I’ve read that both Memphis and Minnesota are using us as a guideline for rebuilding. As the Blazers were rebuilding Chicago had set the bar for progress. After last year it was obvious that we shouldn’t follow their path.
This year our team will be better thatn last year. And last year we were much better than th eprevious year. For example 2 years ago we were blown out everygame against the Suns. Last year we held our own and if we lost it was down the stretch. This year I expect that we will be starting to blow out the lesser teams (instead of playing them close) and against the better teams we will be holding the slight edge instead of playing from behind in a close game.
Age worn players who used to be superstar are the following Shaq is almost done. Nash will wear out unless he coasts through the season. and Rasheed is on a downfall. Stackhouse may have issue in Dallas. Most other teams older players still have something left for this year or not be of consequence.
and the Hornets just missed the playoffs the year before last
We could very well improve to 56 wins. I’m saying that we are poised to take a big leap in the standings. The Hornets proved that it’s not impossible. Let me demonstrate Hornets 2007-8 record was 56-26, 2006-7 record was 39-43, and in CP3 rookie year it was 38-44. If the Hornets can make a 17 win jump, we can easily make a 10 game jump or more. are key players are entering their 3rd year and we have three phenomenal rookies. predicting which players become super stars is almost impossible but you usually know by the third year. Lma is going to explode playing next to Oden. And Roy’s game isn’t going downhill anytime soon.
NBA tune up started in '03 with the Lebron draft and is well under way
ours is still a work in progress… but we had a lo that needed fixing
Cool Analogy
A Mopar guy like myself would have written about yanking out the old slant six (Jailblazers) and dropping in a new 6.1 Litre, 425 HP Hemi (our current roster)!
LMA>LA! LMA is da MAN!
LaMazing! LaMarkable! LaMarvelous! LaMagnificent! LaMonster!
This is your year LMA – this is your year!
LMA's reign as "LaMonster of the Low Post" has just begun!
