Oden back at practice
He played in the evening practice on Wednesday. It was non-contact, but nevertheless, if his ankle was still bothering him, I doubt the Blazer staff would've allowed him to play.
I'm feeling a little better now.
Mike Barrett has the update the Blazers site.

Feelin' Better Now
Hearing from MB that the big guy practiced last night, even though it wasn’t full contact makes me feel better.
I think I needed to chill over this ankle bizness. It’s all good.
One of the things I’ve seen pop up from time to time is the comment (mostly from non-Blazer fans) that Oden has one leg longer than the other..therefore he’s going to be prone to these kind of things. Anyone know if that is true?

I've heard that.
It’s funny how you say it’s mainly from non-Blazer fans. As paranoid as we are around here, why hasn’t there been mass panic about his leg length?
I’m no doctor, and yet I’m still offering an unfounded opinion. If the leg thing is true, it probably is more of a concern for future back problems than future knee and ankle problems. If it was that big a deal, wouldn’t he wear some sort of corrective shoe? The New Nike Oden Lifts!!! (available in left foot only).

Uh,
I think it has come out that he does have one leg longer than the other, but that this is a very common occurence, even in professional basketball players. It is really nothing to worry about.

I think, though
that it might be making your brain unbalanced. You keep raving about Ming somebody or other.
The most amazing thing about my amazing ego is I have amazingly little about which to be egotistical.
The pick and roll this year will emphasize "roll" followed by "dunk", followed by the wailings and lamentations of your women.

I wondered about that too and just today asked the same thing in the "future injuries" fanpost
I read it first in a post by Bill Simmons, but my level of knowledge was that it’s nothing major and they can pretty much correct it with inlays. Morti said the same, and Corvid provided a link to this article where Greg’s agent acknowledges it (and a number of other concerns – brace yourself):

Apparently this one is not an “urban Greg Oden myth”, albeit Wikipedia and DraftExpress has zero about it.

I'm more concerned that he always seems to have a cold.
I’m guessing that Wiki and Draft Express don’t mention it because 1) it’s really common, 2) it’s easy to correct, and 3) it doesn’t really matter.

When should you use a fanshot versus a fanpost?
I guess I missed the tutorial on that one when the format of the website changed.

Just an update
Ben won’t be able to attend practice today because of other commitments. He’s not holding out good Oden info on you.

I believe he does
have one leg longer than the other. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard him talk about it in an interview, where he was working with an elite orthotic manufacturer to find an athletic quality orthotic / shoe insert to help with the problem and that it’s less of an issue now.

It's less of an issue because
I plan to spend most of my time off my feet anyway!

The NBA rule book disagrees (Greg and Rudy, take note)
Section VIII Fines
e. Any player who in the opinion of the officials has deliberately hung on the basket shall be assessed a technical foul and a fine of $100.
EXCEPTION: A player fouled in the act of dunking or shooting may hang on the rim to prevent an injury to himself or to another player with no penalty.

FURTHER EXCEPTION
When the dunk is awesome and hanging on the rim is your trademark, you may do it as long as you are popular and the dunk is awesome. If you’re extra super duper rad, you may even slap the backboard after a monster dunk without incurring a technical foul.
So, I guess you didn’t keep reading because I swear that is in the rule book. THE ODEN RULES.

He's a good dunker, but can't remember seeing him hang on a rim often
Rudy does it all the time.

Well let's hope so
And let’s hope that all future photographs of Oden’s athletic excellence and b’ball skills will depict him wearing Blazer red & black.
That is when we can lean back a little bit and take a deep breath and roar with approval. I for one will remain a bit trepidatious until the real deal materializes on the court, and maybe until the real deal stays injury-free for a few months.
I am increasingly confident that Greg will play like a champion and will help the Blazers in a thousand ways.

Is there any video from the practice...ANY!!!
Oden dunking or rebounding or jumping rope or straightening the net – ANYTHING!
