Ambassador findings

A few weeks ago, Dave said he would like people to be ambassadors for other teams. I volunteered to be the person who covered the Sixers, but since they didn't have a sister site I really couldn't do much. They recently started one (with a guy running it who is a sef-proclaimed cowgirls fan. That's like someone starting a lumberjacks blog in P-town and being a l*kers fan) and I sent them a welcome message and told them a little about me. I also found out something unbelievable...

They think that they are going to be the next great team in the NBA! Everyone knows about Iggy and Brand, but they also have a blooming point guard behind MIller. They have Thadeous Young, who you may or may not know, and they think he is poised for a breakout season. They are also fawning over this rookie, Speights. They are calling him Amare 2.0. Also, they think that THEY have the best GM in sports. I was absolutely shocked! Don't they know about KP and the Blazers? It got me thinking, what have other people found in thier searches reaching out across the SNB network?

I was also curious if there are teams that are covered and ones that aren't. I'm not sure if there was an official sign up post to clarify who was covering which teams, just the post where the idea was thrown out. To help clarify, it would be helpful to put the team you are covering in the title, or at least in bold somewhere in the body of this post. If you only want to put a title up to clarify which team you are coving, that's fine too. Maybe I'll follow it up with a post about which teams still need ambassadors at some point, but I really want to know if there are other sites that for some reason think the Blazers aren't the team of the future. Are there more?

The Sixers are interesting.

Unfortunately, I haven’t followed them closely at all. I did think that they weren’t going to be bad unlike many others at the beginning of last season. Even when they struggled, they always had a decent point differential. They ended the year scoring more points than they gave up, which would imply they “should have been” better than their sub-.500 record.

Andre Miller isn’t really a “blooming” point guard. He was 31 years old last season, and he was always pretty good (consistently above average PER, for example in his 9 seasons). Iggy is a stud, and Thaddeus Young had a strong rookie season. Dalembert is nice, and Brand should really help if he’s back to full strength. They also have a lot of young guys like Louis Williams.

Personally, I don’t think they have enough to be a contender this season, which is why I’m not that high on their signing a 29-year-old Elton Brand. However, there’s a lot of reason to be optimistic with Philadelphia. The Blazers are just the popular pick to be the team of the future.

the blossoming

young guard is “behind” Miller and therefore indicated Lou Williams…I think.

Thanks. Thats what I meant.

Sergio will explode this year as the best NBA player ever and will take revenge impregnating all Portland and Blazers with the "chocolate" word.

Excellent

We will clear up the Ambassador thing officially tomorrow, I think. You’re it for the Sixers. Good find. I love the inside look.

I think one official ambassador duty

should be a preview when the Blazers face that team in the regular season (nothing terribly long, everyone has a life outside of BE). Player matchups, injury updates, prediction and maybe later in the season, ramifications. I guess I’ll find out soon if there are open teams.

"It was halfway through the fourth quarter of an exhibition game, a 30 point blowout, and I absolutely did not want it to end. Time: move slower so this moment stretches.

Dunk Parade.

Forever."

that sounds like a great formula

hopefully the ambassadors remain dutiful over the course of the season. Dave I’m still down with the Hornets site, @TH, as well as Hornets247, HornetsHype, Hometown Hornets. But they don’t get nearly as much traffic as this one with all the blazermaniacs. Nonetheless @TH is a good read and will surely have some interesting comments regarding our team as the two teams flex this year.

Thought you should know

that the guy running it, jsams, had this to say about BE:

“I love Blazer’s Edge. I think it’s one of the premier sites on the network and as a basketball blog that’s what we strive to be.”

Sergio will explode this year as the best NBA player ever and will take revenge impregnating all Portland and Blazers with the "chocolate" word.

I had a funny thought but decided it was to late for me to try to put it in words… just imagine Dave ore someone else from BlazersEdge stepping up to the podium to recieve the accademy award for most premier sight on the network… holding back the tears, as he thanks his mom and dad, his 9th grade english lit teacher, and then he pounds his chest twice before blowing a kiss toward the sky…

yeah something touching like that… but like I said, I’m to tired to break that down.

I noticed when I used to go to other blogs

That even the fans of crappy teams still think they have hope before the season starts. They undervalue everyone but big name talent from other teams and overvalue their talent. If folks want to be an ambassador, it should be a team they sort of like, otherwise, you’ll just get irritated with their homerismness.

Yeah, check out Blog a Bull

They think Rose is going to get them a championship. Maybe I should be their ambassador, seeing as though me and the blog runner get along so well :)

When asked about his thoughts during the Olympic games about playing against Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard, Rudy responded "My first thought was respect. My second thought was to kick their ass".

Man I love him.

Not nitpicking, just helping you clean this sentence up a little bit.

"Your" is possessive

and is either singular or plural.

So it should be “your task” and “your little duties”.

But don’t try to make me feel better by asking me questions as if you value my knowledge or something. Now I know how you really feel.

Overvalue their talent hmmmmm.....

I’ve compared Bayless to the great Kevin Johnson
Outlaw has been declared superior to Shane Battier innumerable times
Frye has been labeled a top power foward in the league
Rudy is certain to be a younger more dynamic Ginobli
Roy compared to Jordan
Oden a cross between Hakeem & David Robinson
Pryzbilla unquestionably the best back up center in the league
Batum projected as a starter
Sergio fanatics were certain he was the next Steve Nash for a while

Aldridge, Blake & Diogu are the only Blazers that are usually judged appropriately around here.

I’m sure GSOM, Sactown Royalty & Blog-a-Bull would have a good laugh at some of our hopes & projections. Francisco Garcia a point guard? HA! Monta Ellis and Biedrens as certain All Stars? HA! Joakim Noah and his female tennis player scream HA!

I'm very curious about this ambassador business.

What all does it entail and have people been assigned and/or claimed teams already?

I’d love an excuse to start scouring info on another team. They could become like my adopted team that i care for.

PHX?

They have TP. I love TP. I know we all do but I really love him.

But they also have Shaq. I hate him. I know we all hate him but I really hate him.

Not for his basketball antics but those movies. Sure I"ve never seen one but knowing they’re out there, waiting to trap me, upsets me and keeps me up at night.

I don’t have a 2nd favorite team so I’m out of the ambas biz.

I offered to be an ambassador

I offered to be an ambassador. Was willing to do more than one team. Never heard back on it. What would my ambassador duties be? Let me know and I’ll go from there. Teams I do would be the Suns, Spurs, or Raptors. Or if those are taken I’d be on for any other team ( I’ll be one for the Fakers on the condition I don’t get verbally abused for it ). I’m looking to get off one blog site ( don’t want to mention here but it isn’t Forum Blue and Gold and that I can safely say and leaving Blazers Edge isn’t in the cards either ). And the reason for leaving that site is verbal abuse. I’ll stop, as I am not in the best of moods right now.

I want to. Only if you want.

I am considering taking on the Ambassadorship to the Houston Rockets

It would give me an excuse to keep track of how Aaron Brooks and Baron Von Wafer are doing. Plus I think that they are an interesting franchise that actually does have potential as a contender.

Also I recently discovered that The Dream Shake – a Houston Rockets blog is soon to be a SBNation blog!
