Eagerly awaiting the elite

Seriously, I've loved the recent winning going on. If the Jazz hadn't been so difficult, and Jerry Sloan so evil, this streak could have easily been 16 now, and I would celebrate life even more.

But personally, I'm really eager to see our team take on some elite (championship) teams, and it looks like Boston will be the first test. I mean, this team looked completely different during the losing skid right before the winning started. Now we're moving the ball and really, winning. At the same time, it feels like we haven't played any of the championship-caliber teams in ages. Playoff teams we've played, but certain teams starting with 's' in the West that aren't the Sonics? I want to see that. February looks like a good place to see that happen, with Detroit, Boston, and Dallas.

Any ideas on what to expect? I'm always interested in matching up with Boston or the Suns. And I'd think people would have different opinions on this. And I just don't care about the Spurs.

I want to see those matchups also
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Blazers beat the Celtics or Pistons--especially at home.  But the bottom line is that you don't have to beat the top 3 or 4 teams in the league in order to make the playoffs.  I'm thrilled that the Blazers are beating quality teams--along with the weaklings like the Sonics & Wolves.  Hey, after the way the season started, I'm thrilled that the Blazers are winning at all!

actually
it would be a 17 game winning streak at this point if we hadn't lost to the Jazz. And IMO, I think we have a really good chance against Boston. A win there would send shockwaves around the league.

Interesting ...
When we get to Boston they will probably be on a 13 game winning streak.  Will we be able to stop them so they can't have bragging rights as the only team that has gone 14 this year?  It's almost like the NBA has planned all the this .. the coincidence is interesting.
Go Blazers!!!

oh yea, major shockwaves...
The blazers do have one thing in their favor, we have a deeper bench, but thats about all we got in our favor.  Well that and Brandon Roy...

we've beaten
both Dallas and Detroit, earlier in the season, pre-streak.  Granted, it was at home, and beating Boston in Boston will be very difficult. But I don't see any reason why we can't compete in that game, and I'm sure the players feel the same way.  Should be a fun, hard fought game, and if it's close in the fourth quarter it  could go our way.  I'd love it.

I think barring injuries
we will have a puncher's chance in Boston. Skeptics be damned, look at the line for that game when it comes around. I would honestly be shocked if we are anything other than a 6.5 pt dog.
Sorry to get all degenerate gambler there, but I think we are a great interconference rival, for the next three years with the Celts. It won't quite be L*kers-Celts but with Oden it could be some spitfire action out there. Lovin' this year man, sooooo nice to have my dormant Blazer fan family back to saying lickety brindle and red hot and rollin' again!!!
Hate the game, not the player.

I've been thinking
The blazers can't really be THAT good...

when do we play some good teams darn it?

Bring on the elite.  Even if we lose, we can still learn, and beating the Celtics, Suns, and Spurs will finally shut up that inner doubt of mine.

I've been amazed  by this season so far.  Started off a little worse than I thought we would and then exploded to be FAR better than I thought we would.

This is some amazing stuff going on right now.

I can't wait to see this team take on a team with two all-stars and one super star.

Elites?
The Hornets are 23-11 and just beat the Suns (in Phoenix), who are 23-10.  We beat them during a month in which they went 9-5 and their star PG won player of the month.

This team, on a good night, can beat anyone.  I'm not saying we're elite yet, but we're close enough that they can hear our footsteps.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
