BLAZERS SUPPORTERS ON ESPN: Greg Anthony and Skip Bayless

Yea i was just watching 1st & 10:

they had very nice things to say about Portland.
Greg Anthony was making great points:

10 game winning streak is legit
Brandon Roy is a budding Superstar... impresses his leadership and will which we all know
Giving Nate Mcmillan Credit
Players care about winning.. not stats.. unity
And the same old "no greg oden" line

Skip Bayless calls Greg Anthony the smartest Anaylst. Declares that Blazers make the Playoffs

He thinks Brandon Roy has already budded
he makes the point that To bring Jarret Jack and Travis Outlaw off the bench.. is incredible

and that they are the future team. with greg oden they will dominate the paint..
they even said

Greg Oden > Dwight Howard

^_^ always good to get some recognition and some blazer believers.

Oden > Howard
Maybe in two years, but not now and probably not next season either.  He's still too raw.

Maybe in four seasons
Year one to learn how to stay out of foul trouble
Year two to learn the NBA and moves
Year three to develop into what howard is currently.
Year four to make the quanum leap to get to where howard will be then.

then again, it doesn't matter if he's better or worse.  Really... it only matters that we win.  Any team out there can have the best individual player, if they want it.  I want the best team, the best winners, and the championships for years to come.

Thanks for the respect and all, but give the blazers their rings

Got to give Anthony Credit
He thought the Blazers would still be good after they lost Oden.  I believe that his pre-season prediction was far better than the other analysts, and had the Blazers missing the playoffs.  It would be nice to prove him wrong (by making the playoffs), while also showing that his opinion to be much better than the others on network.

WHOA
I've never seen Skip Bayless agree with anything a NW team does.

Who is this Skip Bayless
fellow you speak of? Did you mean Skip Payless, the founder of the discount shoe store?
Hate the game, not the player.

Thanks!
I love it when people take time to recap the TV stuff because obviously we can't all link to that like an online site so you may be the only person capable of sharing the news.

One observation, and this is more of a general thing that happens to come out in your diary than something specifically about your diary:

I squirm a little bit calling national analysts like Anthony and Bayless "supporters" and "Blazer Believers".  The reverse is also true:  when somebody critiques the team they're not being insulting.

These guys aren't saying what they say because they like the team or root for/against us.  They're saying what they say because that's what they see.  If the Blazers start playing poorly and lose another 9 of 10 they'll say that too...for the same reason.

Personally I think this is better than them being "supporters" because when they say something you have a pretty good indication that it's real, at least from their perspective.  When people were crowing last year for Zach to make the All-Star team and nobody nationally was talking about it, that was a pretty good indication that it wasn't reality, but a fan perspective.  This isn't just a fan-thing.  The Blazers really are good...and will really be good.  We all know that, but it helps to have that confirmed from a detached perspective.  This, of course, requires people to actually be detached.  Those national guys that people complain so much about actually fill a valuable role apart from, and distinctive from, the rest of us.

Just my two cents.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
