Trout's 3 point shooting

is it just me or has travis developed into a reliable three point threat over the last few games? I've noticed him taking (and hitting) a lot more of them recently...3 for 3 tonight till josh smith blocked one of em

If Trout has a reliable stroke from deep he's going to be absolutely unguardable...i guess the question is do you think he's just having a hot streak from there or is he developing a deadly stroke?

Work in progress
I don't think it's too much of a consistent threat yet. I've mostly noticed them coming when he's on fire or getting there in the 4th, that situation boosts his confidence. But I think it will continue to improve over this season, we're just getting a good preview of it now.

The thing I have noticed ...
is that his FORM is consistent on the long ball. He doesn't break from his routine in order to get a little extra distance on the shot. That bodes well for an improved percentage the more he shoots it.

And how about a little kudos to Coach Mac for green lighting Outlaw as many as a couple of years ago. With his erratic style, I don't think any one of us could have stomached a couple of years of watching a young Trout grow up, but Coach had the foresight to see that he could be an incredible scorer in this league, and just needed to learn by trial and error.

He's been pretty hot over the past month
but he's been a respectable 3-pt shooter the entire season.  It's probably at least partially because he only takes them when he's got a wide open look (as opposed to somebody like Jones who's out on the court intending to take 3s).

What I really want to know is how can Trout shoot .698 from the free throw line in the same month that he shoots .571 from from the 3-pt line?

Bruce Bowen
I think he led the league in 3pt shooting % while shooting about 50% from the line.

and that kid at Florida
his was a senior last year and he tore it up from outside, but couldnt hit FTs.

I guess I am not saying why this, but just giving even more extreme examples.

gargen
agreed with gargen.  i've mentioned this before the road trip...but yes he is developing it rather well..."his shot" used to  be a few feet inside of the line...but now hes added that extra range.

I hope Travis doesent read this
His form is all right, but put some more arch and spin on your shot. Seeing how far his misses come out when he is inside the FT line I am afraid of how many fast breaks will be initiated out of long rebounds if he starts cueing up more 3s.

His misses
I don't think shooting from the corners is really going to lead to the break unless his misses squirt towards 1/2 court, which is unlikely from that spot.

Just another skill he'll have in time
I'm starting to get really excited about Travis. He could totally be an all star.

One of the most important skills for a shooter is to know how much to shoot. If he can keep up a reasonable percentage from beyond the arc, even if he isn't taking too many shots, he's doing a good job. It's especially fun to see him hit threes when the game is on the line- the four point play, this afternoon, etc.

The cool thing about Travis today...
He attempted some post up moves I haven't seem him really attempt very much.  If he can do this consistantly and under control, watch out league!

didnt notice
i didnt notice that...i'll try to pay attention during the replay and future games.  travis is turning into a complete offensive player before our very eyes. he doesnt need to be a "threat" from 3 point range, but having the range is a nice asset like roy.

3pt
Seems to shoot it with plenty of arc from the corners. I think its a keeper.

Roy I think has improved his shooting to even a greater degree this year.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
