Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

More schadenfreude from Gotham

Because I know that you, my good friends here at Blazer's Edge, can never get your fill of schadenfreude where a certain auld acquaintance of yourn is concerned, I direct you to peruse this latest offering authored by one of my long-suffering brethren at knickerblogger.net.

It's entitled The Poison of 20 and 10.

Bet you'll never, ever guess who they're referring to.

Interesting side note
If you scroll down toward the bottom of the comment thread, you'll find an intriguing comment that suggests Portland may have had another offer for Randolph on draft day - from the Lakers, of all teams!

Randolph has certainly done nothing to up his value since July. Equal value for him is a bad player with a bad contract. Added value for him is an expiring contract and a prospect (like KB said earlier). Francis/Frye is added value and Portland's improvement reflects that. Why would Portland have turned down better offers if they were available. The Lakers probably offered Kwame and their pick. Since Portland could wait an extra year for added contract relief they took the Knick deal instead.

This is the first mention I've ever heard of a proposed Kwame/1st round pick (eventually used to select PG Javaris Crittenton) deal for Zach. Has anyone else here heard that such an offer was ever on the table? If it's true, it certainly was an interesting choice by Pritchard. Kwame may not have been worth the #1 overall pick back in 2001, but he sure might've helped the Blazers shore up some of their rebounding deficiencies this year.

Kwame
Kwame would have totally taken us to the promised land.  Shoots.

Thanks, I also liked:
"is there such a thing as "addition by subtraction?" I still say no. We all agree that Zach is wildly overpaid, an average player at best, and eminently dumpable... but there's no reason to think the team will improve, in the short run, by getting rid of him."

yes, that's just one case. Randolph's leaving Portland was addition by subtraction, as has been gone over here ad nauseum.

Makes me smile, but I do feel for you knickfan.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
