Gameday Open Thread: Blazers at Timberwolves
How's it going to go tonight? Will we establish a new streak? Will Sebastian Telfair light us up? Will the Target Center roof cave in from ice pressure, only to be buoyed by the ocean of wailing tears sprung from the eyes of Minnesota fans this season?
Register your pre-, in-, and post-game thoughts right here.

P.S. Update: Mike sends in this Bill Simmons article that starts with a lot of positive stuff about Boston (natch) but then goes on to praise the direction of the Blazers. Thanks Mike!

No predictions needed
We'd better come to play. Minnesota needs wins, and they don't really believe in us yet, they still think we are one of the teams they can get.
This is not an easy bounce-back win like some people seem to think. We should win it, but we'd better play well. If we play well, they can't hang with us, and we may even blow them out, but if we don't play well, we're in trouble.
A difference in young teams?
I didn't read about our locker room after the Utah loss, but somehow I doubt that after 20 min. the loss had been forgotten.
Note the link on that page to the previous discussion of Roy and Foye.
This is not a good time to be a Timberwolves fan.
Sounds familiar
The Herd
I didn't hear it

Best we could hope for
My thoughts exactly
You couldn't ask for a better team to face than the Wolves after the end of the streak. A loss would be kinda embarrassing, but still not the end of the world...
But we should win, and I'd expect our guys to be ready to kill whoever they played tonight.
Hell, every game our guys win is a new record for the number of wins a team this young has ever had. We got a bright future no matter if we stay over .500 or not.
KILL THESE MINNY NINNIES.
Mortimer
Here we go, Blazers

League Pass has the Minny feed
Big game, big game...
Mortimer
Minny gonna be in our shoes a year from now
Minny could become good in a few years, as in decent for a young team, but I dunno if McHale is capable of drafting correctly.
Yah
What a joke
The Garnett/Allen trade
Plus, McHale owed Ainge ten bucks and Ainge kept hassling him for it and so instead of paying him back, McHale did Ainge a "solid" by trading KG for the Celtics' scraps.
But wouldn't you know it, Ainge still wants his ten bucks!
I am on LP too Mortimer
Also it lets you see how much local feeds view their own teams and gives you perspective on what all of your people might be saying about yours. For instance the Minnesota guys are not going to come out and say, "Our team sucks like a vacuum cleaner" so you listen to what they DO say and then you know that translates into "Our team sucks like a vacuum cleaner". Then you know when you hear it again around the league.
On LP too
I'm curious what they say about us.

Yeah, I agree
But yeah, I like learning who the "Sergios" are for other teams. Who do they love perhaps irrationally and most average fans don't know much about?
As long as it's not the Celtics feed, I'll live.
offshore feed

There is a game delay
Nobody noticed this pre-game when they were assembling the floor?
Someone else's job
It's science.
LOL
That is so funny.
Their sideline reporter said, "What's the problem? These guys all grew up playing on the playground."
I'm guessing $60 million contracts and hundreds of thousands in ticket sales lost if a key player goes down?
Still working
Oh wait...maybe there are MULTIPLE gaps. It sounds like it from what they are saying.
Not fixed
I'm sacrificing for all of you!

I know Minny fans like Foye...
I wonder if the Minny feed will lament the fact they coulda' had Roy... maybe they like Foye enough to not worry about it too much.
haha

I mentioned the holes in the floor on another forum, and that was one of the responses.
BRILLIANT.
Those are some mean sideburns on Min Host
doesn't it seem like it will take some time
damn
in couple years from now if they keep all their young guys and draft some more guys and do some trades, this team will be good.but not as good as us

Is there anything sadder
They should just start the game with a blanket apology for all crimes against the game of basketball that might be perpetrated tonight.
Hhaha

All the hot girls
Oh wait...wrong tip.
We haven't had the Future Point Guard in the stroller much yet, since he's a month old and it's freezing out there. But we have a Greco.
how did he
by soulja2boy on Jan 2, 2008 5:55 PM PST reply actions
I wince
Need to restart that streak.
Yeah
It's like saying Jessica Alba used to be hot. Guess what Chuckles?
Yes
But Wolves are only 3-10 at home. So keep it shut already.
These announcers are funny,
Martell dunks
That's gonna earn some bench time.
How many times did we watch Bassy

by soulja2boy on Jan 2, 2008 6:16 PM PST reply actions
Nice burn for Sergio
LOL
And the same coach.
"I know people will laugh even more at me, but I'm hell bent on getting this accomplished and making sure that we get it done," Thomas said Wednesday night before his New York Knicks played the Sacramento Kings. "And I'm not leaving until we get it done."
----
"I believe that one day we will win a championship here," Thomas said. "And I believe a couple of these guys will be a part of that. And I believe I'll be a part of that."
----
Knicks down 21 to the Kings. Who are without Artest, Bibby, or Kevin Martin.
Pull Roy!

Surprised he missed that
LOL

These guys are amazingly positive though. They should be suicide counselors.

Absolutely
In February during one of the road games versus the Lakers we're going to shoot for 2000 comments. Tons o' fun.
If you haven't already
You know your team sucks...
Good Sideline Commentary - Prefer harlow though
what the hell??
The problem with that
Great
I hate those irrelevant 24sec calls.
Every team makes a run
Uhm
Reaching downwards against your opponent on an attempted block is always a foul. It's called reaching in.
I wish the Minnesota commentators
It hurts us so much when Joel's not in the game.
This color guy
The moment has passed man, move on!
by Replacement Level Poster on Jan 2, 2008 7:05 PM PST reply actions
Why doesn't
That move was smooth.
Don't know.
trade?
by soulja2boy on Jan 2, 2008 7:06 PM PST reply actions
Martell did it
MN guys have a point
Still, smart play on Jack's part.
it was a bad call
Sergio should break him down
Now, that foul on JJ33 i can take. the defender was on him.
Too many passes
Antoine Walker would fit perfectly with Portland.
Walker still hasn't committed a foul
Sergio makes the easy pass
Good hustle
Yeah, I had to change my signature
Jones a little too alone there
i can't watch Sergio shoot freethrows
ANYONE KNOW MCMILLANS #?
by soulja2boy on Jan 2, 2008 7:25 PM PST reply actions
and 3pt shot...i like him, but not his shot
that terrible pass
Blazers have 16 point lead
Now is the time to really break the will and backs of Minni Wolves. They are acting like they have lost already. I hope we see the foot on the throat moves by the Blazers.
Good to see LA
Green will be a good player in the league
Mike and Mike
See that Board by Outlaw?
I'm liking Outlaw's rebounding this year
LA needs more action
I'm starting to get a bad feeling...
Somebody reassure me.
I think it's McRoberts time
Finally saw the dancers
Yeah it is
THAT
Terrible shooting and rebounding by our buys.
Great move to the basket by Roy
How many times
You ain't not John Travolta!

I think
See Dwayne Wade.
I believe...
2 for 10
2 more misses. 1min and 27 seconds. Lead 10.
