CP or DW? Neither!
What happens next season or the season after regarding Steve Blake? We all know just how important the PG posistion is in the NBA. But with Roy playing the way that he has, do we need a Chris Paul or a Deron Williams? Wouldn't someone like Paul or Deron want the ball in the fourth quarter? Roy has SO FAR proven himself and us that he can create shots for others just as efficently as CP3 and DW. What I believe that Kevin Pritcherd(?- or KP) should look for is someone who can consistenly make shots from 15-23ft shots, defend PG'S and SG'S and create shots for others with the understanding that when it comes to the fourth quarter, IT'S ROY'S BALL! Is there anyone out there that fits my critera? Steve Blake might very well be the guy that fits the bill in the present but can he be a Championship type PG that we need? It remains to be seen but if the chemistry of the team improves greatly with the addition of BIG O, then our expectations of the 'PG' wouldn't need to be so high. By the way, it seems that O.J Mayo's stock appears to be dropping and 'might' be available at #14. At present he is at #10 on NBADraft.net

I wouldn't touch Mayo
Re: our PG situation. "someone who can consistenly make shots from 15-23ft shots, defend PG'S and SG'S and create shots for others with the understanding that when it comes to the fourth quarter, IT'S ROY'S BALL". I think you just described our incumbent starter, Vinny B.
I agree

To me
Roy
Blake
Rudy
Sergio
jack will be traded, and those 4 will play for us when we make our runs at championships. Just my look at the future.
Blake is a perfect fit to play beside Roy, and Rudy/Sergio in the 2nd unit is going to be fun to watch. Good times are ahead.
The Chicago model
They tried playing him at point guard at one time early in his career and even though he was very effective with the ball in his hands he still was most comfortable playing the SG with John Paxson or Steve Kerr playing the point - players who could pass him the ball, hit the outside shot and play good enough defense.
You might hate me for this but
Yeah I agree we will never pick up CP3 or D-will, CP3 because it would be counter intuitive if you look at Brandon's roll, its one or the other. D-Will basically the same thing and more so, he is in the same division as us, so that would never happen. The blazers will use their extra money to guarantee guys like martell, roy, LMA, Oden to stay and then with whats left bring in a vet or two with clutch playoff experience.
Roy is our man.
José Calderón
Have you seen
Roy allows us
Steve Blake will retire a Blazer.
Nate and KP knew that what he could do and now that their plan is coming to fruition, all of us fans are beginning to see what KP knew a long time ago, that Steve Blake is the perfect PG for this team. I imagine that, yeah in the back of his mind that in 2009 KP wanted to take a run at CP but your mind sometimes fantasizes about what if occurs, but barring a miracle, I dont see taht happening.
I belive that CP and Roy would florish together, dont get me wrong, but I am not sure that A: we will be ablt to get him and B: that Allen will want to sign CP for max $$ and then when Roy, LMA and Oden are off their rookie contracts that we will have 4 max players. Although I wonder what will happen when Roy, LMA and Oden do come up for a contract renewal, what they will want, max type money? Looking at the Pistons payroll the highest paid player is
Rasheed $12.5
Billups 10
Hamilton 9.75
Prince 8.6
So I would imagine that it would go
if we got CP $16
Roy 13
LMA 11
Oden 11
Joel 6
Webster 5
Outlaw 5
Jones 5
Frye 5
Blake 5
Sergio 3
Rudy 2
Kopo? 1
Freeland 1
Green? 1
McBob? 1
Rookie 1
rookie 500k
That is $76.5 mill WITHOUT CP
$92.5 with CP
Granted the cap will be higher when the "Portland Three Party" is up for renewal but not by the $20-25 mill needed to get us under the cap.
As for Sergio, I am not down on him, I only wish he could come and play with us for a full summer and not have to run around with the Spanish national team. I just wonder how he would do if he just got to rest for a few months and then came back early and started playing with us for the full summer. He still is just in his 2nd year and is 21 also so he has much to learn still. Next year will be another lost summer as soon as Sergio gets off from the Blazers he will probably be gone to practice with the Spanish national team until the Olympics are over at the end of August, same with Rudy. I hope thaqt when he is able to get a full summer of practice in he will "get it" and the Sergio we saw in Denver last year will emerge from his shell and we will have a hell of a player.
ball time
Sergio and Rudy together
