Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Is it merely a typo?

Or is it more evidence of the scant respect accorded the Blazers by national media types who feel it's really not worth the effort to actually, like, get the players' names right?

Or, is it just another opportunity for a sportswriter to offer up yet one more cheap crack about Greg Oden's somewhat, ummm, "mature" appearance?

You be the judge. Check out Kenny Smith's New Year's NBA Resolutions and scroll down to his entry for Portland.

Hope all of you have a very happy, healthy 2008 (during which the Knicks will meet up with the Blazers at least three times: on Feb 1 at the Rose Garden; on Mar 8 at Madison Square Garden - and in late spring at the NBA-TV studios in Secaucus, New Jersey!)

Nah...
It looks to me like something that got composed for Kenny Smith by the writers back in mid-October or November before the streak. Maybe the strike has something to do with it.

Just an old piece of writing that slipped through the cracks.

Except
That it appears everyone is in order based on record.  Look at the NW Division, everyone ordered by rank.  I think it was Kenny's attempt at bad humor.  I think someone below pointed out a nod to us with Seattle's resolution.

Some of the others
were pretty odd too.

I don't consider Detroit flying under the radar at the moment, but maybe I am more attuned to streaks than Kenny Smith is.

It's a typo
Look at the Seattle entry--that they hope to become the Trailblazers.  That's a bit of respect right there.

I don't think it is a typo
A lot of his other "resolutions" are full of sarcasm.  I suspect this one is no different.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
