oden's rookie status

i have a question, when oden comes back next year will he be considered a rookie and be eligible for things like rookie of the year or does this season still count as him being a rookie while he is injured?

Yes, Greg will be eligible for R.O.Y. in 2008-09 if he doesn't play at all in 2007-08.  I suspect he will be the favorite for the award going into next season.

How will the Basketball companies deal with his rookie status?

They have all his rookie cards out now -- if I'm not mistaken.  Will he have a second "rookie" card and which one would be more valuable long-term when he becomes great?

Been a while since I had much card involvement
but I'm pretty sure that this year will be his "rookie" card.  Next year won't exactly be called a rookie card, but will of course reflect that he didn't play any games this year.  Typically the first available release will be the most valuable, but that all depends on availability.

e.g.:  If there were 2 million prints of this years card, but there is an outfit that only prints 300K cards next year supply and demand may dictate that this much rarer card printed for next year is more valuable (but there is no more likely a chance that that limited run wouldn't happen this season as well or as opposed to... if it does the first card should be worth the most so long as you are comparing apples with apples so to speak.

And in games like live and 2k 08
after you finish this season they will call him a second year player.

Another question
Let's say Mr. Oden rehabs his knee completely and comes back near the end of this season. What happens if he plays just a handful of games at the end of the regular season. How many games can he play this season without losing his rookie status going into next season?

none
As soon as a they have played even 1 second they are considered a rookie for that year.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
