New Update from Quicks Blog about Oden

I don't know if any of you have seen the newest update from the Behind the Beat blog on Oregonlive but I highly recommend it. Here is the link

http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/

Oden was faster than Durant in almost every drill and only .07 slower in the 3/4 court than Aaron Brooks.  That stat alone completely blows me away. It seems that every single day something new comes out that makes Oden more and more of lock to be our future.  All I gotta say is that I am going to be at the last two summer league games to take a look at this guy in action.

Now I'm afraid to get him
What if he is so good that he bails for the sunshine of LA, or the bright lights of New York?

We want a guy who is going to be here for a long time and bring us prosperity for at least a decade.  This just makes me worry that Oden might feel he is too big for this team.

But then again, I'm sure that Big Red may have felt the same way, when he first got to town.

Was Damon really a bad Blazer, or did he get the short end of the stick?

No worries
The guy wanted to be a dentist growing up.  He hung out at Math camp.  Supposedly, he was relieved to be going to a "small" market.  Doesn't sounds like a "bright lights, big city" guy.

NY or LA
Who would ever want to go there? Those teams suck. Tim Duncan was never tempted to bolt his small market. So far Lebron's doing the same thing. These are old school concerns. LA and NY aren't as big a deal as they once were.

Perhaps
This just shoved KP firmly into Oden's camp. i know it just did it to me

Holy cow!
Is there any doubt we could be a running team with him?  I'm a big proponent of a 50% running - 50% halfcourt model and this just cements the who question for me.
In Kevin Pritchard we trust.

I totally agree
Exactly what I want -- 50% running, 50% halfcourt. Oden is like the prototypical, archetypal player for that-- He could be like a Tim Duncan in the halfcourt set as he develops his post skills, AND like a bigger Amare Stoudemire...

very funny
you guys are hilarious. it'll be a grand day when we can laugh at all those bricks like they never happened.

When life tosses you bricks, build a franchise.
Those bricks paved the pathway for our franchise.  At least we tried make something out of nothing.  (HA)  Did he go back to Korea, or is he still lumbering along with the Bucks?

Ha
Not sure why, but I liked Ha.  I think he'd be a better use of a roster spot than Miles.  By the time Joel is nearing the end of his contract, Ha should have had enough time with learning the language and the game to the point that he's a viable backup to Oden.

by timg56 on Jun 4, 2007 4:14 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't know why either.
Ha is a terrible, terrible basketball player. If we're going to take a flyer on a big man that doesn't deserve to be in the league, I'd rather re-sign Luke Schenscher.

I now have fears of Oden, Aldridge and Outlaw
bashing heads all going for the same ball two feet above the rim.

Yeah, I know how you feel.
I felt like that before last year about Joel, Magloire and LaFrentz.

But it never happened, thank God!

UNCLE!!!
This decided me for Oden.

I never took the reverse argument so i'll share a durant concern that i have now.  I haven't seen it before, and maybe it's silly... but...

Durant has been 100% focused on basketball since 11 years of age.  It makes me wonder if his talent isn't a natural talent but ONLY because of hard work and if his ceiling might not be as high as some might think.

I've been worrying about this for a while and the stats have me thinking on it even more.

If you're a star guy who's going to rock the league, it just seems wrong that a big man is going to beat you in speed and agility tests.

Does anyone know how aldridge did last year on the speed and agility tests?  I'd be curious because he was part of a running team and i want to know how Oden compares.

Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
