Just an observation....
Notice how much less hoopla, and press coverage of Durant's arrival here in PDX versus the mass coverage in articles, and blogs of Oden's anticipated arrival well before he even got off the plane. Clearly even the media is biased!
I think we should give equal coverage, and keep an open mind. Maybe were talking Bowie vs. Jordan all over again. History has a strange way of repeating itself (not that any of us want that).
Lots of people are quick to compare & predict Oden to be one of the greatest centers of all-time. How come nobody has balls to compare & predict Durant to be the next Jordan? Personally I do not think we should make these kind of comparions to really unproven talents. Both are overflowing with potential, and until they play & prove themselves in the NBA all they are is potential. Lots of disappointments in the history of the NBA with players that were supposed to be the next greatest.
We will not know who would have been the better pick for years to come, so let's give them both a fair shake and let the best man win.

I think the media likes a good interview
Durant says all the right things, but not in the manner that Oden does...
I'm disappointed too
Not a peep on o-live. Of course, Quick and Uppercut may be at home now, but still...
Yeah, yesterday there were Oden arrives!
Later Arrival maybe?
Tomorrows the big day, I'm pretty sure they'll have more coverage then. I hope so, I want Oden hands down, but I really want to see what Durant does.

Because Oden has the talent to become a player that is as dominate as the great centers of all time, accept wilt. His size and skill set gives him that ability.
Conversly, There will never be another MJ, he is/was so far above everyone else that it is just not fair to compare prospects to him. How many times have we heard that, so and so is the next MJ? Vince Carter? Kobe? Grant Hill? Every time there is a good SG or wing player coming out for the draft the comparisons come out, and everytime they fail to live up. These players all have had good careers but trying to live up to that standard is just impossible, even for a player like Kobe.
Most people would honestly tell you that Kobe is either the best player, or one of the top 3 wing players in the NBA right now, but even he doesn't compare to what Jordan did. If you don't believe me check the stats, http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?statsId=3118
Kobe's best season was 03-03 where he avg 30 ppg, 5 assits, 5 reb, 1.6 steals, and .438 FG%. And he is the closest any player has come to Jordan's level, yet he is still far way.
As time goes by people seem to forget just how good MJ was, his lowest PPG total in a full season with the bulls, (I don't count his time with the wizards) was his rookie year at 28.2 ppg, to go with 6 reb and 6 assists per game, and .515% FG. His stat line for the 88-89 season is just insane, .538% FG 32.5 ppg, 8 rebs and 8 assists, and almost 3 steals per game.
MJ's career stats:
http://www.nba.com/history/players/jordan_stats.html
"Six-time NBA champion (1991-93, 1996-98);
MVP (1988, '91, '92, '96, '98);
10-time All-NBA First Team (1987-93, 1996-98); All-NBA Second Team (1985);
Defensive Player of the Year (1988);
Nine-time All-Defensive First Team (1988-93, 1996-98);
Rookie of the Year (1985);
14-time All-Star;
All-Star MVP (1988, '96, '98);
One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History ('96); Olympic gold medalist (1984, '92)."
Durant will be a great player, but neither him nor anyone else will ever be the "next" MJ.
not to mention
KD is more KG/Dirk
and neither of them have titles.
