Around SBN: 2011 In Extreme Home Runs

Just for fun - call your shot.

Before we know what the draft order is, what two rookies are on our opening night roster next year?  I'd say one, but you need a tie-breaker so list your 1st and 2nd most likely.

Use your own judgement deciding how trades and draft position factor in, there are so many variables it will be a crap shoot.

Dave can come up with an appropriate title like Most Bestest Draft Prognosticator or something (how does he come up with this stuff?).

Here's your chance for fame and notoriety amongst the Blazer faithful.

Here's mine: Durant & Yi

First round pick #1
I have a gut feeling that we are getting the #1 this year:

Greg Oden and (2nd Rounder) Glen "Big Baby" Davis

realisticly
he'll either drat c.brewer or if he's picking 6th-8th he'll trade the pick...

My picks
Julian Wright or Corey Brewer (Brandon Roy even said that he likes Brewer, who am I to say that B.Roy is wrong!!!).

Woo-hoo! An easy one for me!
Given that last mega-diary of mine (you could say I had a case of "diary-a"):

Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green.

Blazers have a five-on-three...and they pull it back and wait for help.

I should add, I just got my work schedule . . .
. . . for next week, and I've got the morning shift on Tuesday.
Bit of a relief there; I'm officially available for lottery-watching.
That was by no means guaranteed. W00t!

Either you're trying to steal my thunder or great minds think alike!  I've got all of my fingers and toes crossed.

Go Blazers!

It depends
on whether or not we are becoming a running team or a spur or detroit molded team.

I wouldn't want to play Run-n-gun style because well its not efficient and i just plain don't like it.

I was glad to see how the blazers "controlled tempo" while playing the Warriors and Phoenix Suns. That just proves that if u can stop them they are totally beatable and vulnerable. Phoenix would be absolutely horrible without a point guard any less quality then Steve Nash.

Yi Jianlian/Lamarcus/ and whatever center makes a very potent running team along with sergio/ maybe papakoulas/Brandon Roy

Otherwise Durant makes you feel like u build your team around and let him feel comfortable

by Blazerhopeful on May 18, 2007 8:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Flexible?
Who knows because we haven't seem them in an NBA environment, but I think with their skill set and athletic ability they could both play either style.  Durant's shooting would be huge in the halfcourt and Yi looks to have a nice low post arsenal of moves.

I agree on the tempo, you can't be an exclusive running team like GS or you'll get killed in the playoffs when things slow down.  Phoenix is a great team but you could argue their inability to consistently execute against lop shelf halfcourt defense was their undoing.

Well......I'd have to say......
Corey Brewer, Aaron Brooks.....(we have a 2nd rounder we could use to take a flyer)
Give me Corey Brewer or give ME the pick!

by kevingiard1 on May 19, 2007 2:30 PM PDT reply actions

okay
corey brewer and nick fazekas.
ignacio

by ignacio on May 19, 2007 3:19 PM PDT reply actions

Fazekas
This guy intrigues me, didn't he put up big rebounding numbers as well?  Can't have too many shooters and he could slip to the second round; I'd take a flyer on him for sure.

my two cents
Most likely Blazers (in order of probability)

1. Corey Brewer

He's got so many of the skills that this team is lacking.

2. Al Horford

If by chance he is available at #6, no way you pass him up. But unlikely to be available.

KP sells his soul
And we end up with durant and oden.

by ratbastird on May 20, 2007 7:02 AM PDT reply actions

he would have to sell his soul just to get one
and would probably be forced to take over as GM for Memphis at the end of the season.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
