Gameday Open Thread: Sixers at Blazers

Here we go!  Will it be an even Baker's Dozen and an incredible month or our first lost in ages and a fantastic month?  Philly rope-a-doped us the last time we faced them.  Will we rock their worlds this time like the young Mike Tyson or fall short while biting their ears off like the old Mike Tyson?

Register your pre-, in-, and post-game thoughts right here.

Don't forget the early start, nor that the jersey contest prediction form for this game is a couple posts below.

Go Blazers! McRob will see PT the last 5 minutes of the 4th.
The Rose Garden is our House.

Yep
to me that will be the signal that we have indeed arrived.  McRob playing in garbage time because we are far ahead.  I was hoping to see him in the Minny game, but twas not to be.

Big mistake
trading Korver before you face us Philadelphia, we will rock you-sock you-pickuup and drop you!!!

by jayseyfield on Dec 30, 2007 12:11 AM PST reply actions

Easy Win!
Without Korver, the zone will hurt them.

We better bring our game for all four quarters.

We better not get too locked into the revenge factor.  This isn't about revenge, it is about playing our game the way we've played it for twelve games.

We'll hurt them with the long ball, JJ3/Martell/Blake will hit them for at least 6 threes.  And they have no answer for Roy or Aldridge, really.

by jscot on Dec 30, 2007 12:43 AM PST reply actions

Screw that
I want revenge. I want to see Trout get a T for taunting after a thunderous dunk. Let them know that this is a different team than the one they saw in Philly. BLAZE THE 6'ERS!
Get Greg outta the burbs

by BigCelPhone on Dec 30, 2007 12:51 AM PST reply actions

Teams that play for revenge
usually lose.

Fans can think about revenge all they want, but if those guys are out there thinking about revenge instead of thinking about how to play, we won't get revenge.  If they take care of business, we'll kick Philly all over the court, and that will be revenge.

Will DMiles be there?

We've grown
From this morning's Philadelphia Inquirer : "To prepare for the game, McMillan showed his team a tape of the earlier game, not as a motivating factor but to demonstrate how far Portland has come."

by jorga on Dec 30, 2007 8:27 AM PST reply actions

Nate blamed our
loss at Philadelphia on lack of defense.  I blame that lack of defense on Nate who unexplicably kept Pryz on the bench when he was sorely needed in that 4th quarter.

I doubt he will make the same mistake again ... although I'm not sure of it.

by TwoDeep on Dec 30, 2007 9:42 AM PST reply actions

So Przybilla

Every Game has been so BIG!
I want to see the drubbing the Balzers (sic) put on Philly, in the first half at their court, for a whole game this afternoon. Protect our Home Court!

The NW Division lead is ours with a little help from GS. I expect their game to go down to the wire, just like the last one these teams played.

GO BALZERS!
Keep on Streakin' (I gots my Pinkies on for you)

That's sad
But the question remains: Why isn't Sergio coaching?

by Mortimer on Dec 30, 2007 5:52 PM PST up reply actions

Good question
With my condolences to Nate, is it now an accepted sign of respect to pour a little 40 out for anyone who has passed away?

Why can't Skiles just coach for the game, kind of like substitute teacher?

Correction
Technically, we're in first because we hold the tie-breaker as of this point.

But an incredible feat either way.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
