Mark Cuban has released thousands of internet hacking robots

That's the only way I can explain the bizarre All Star voting.  I know that it would be far fetched to think that one of our beloved Blazers would make the fan vote (with any luck some of this Roy-love could help with a coaches pick), but to have both Terry and Jerry Freaking Stackhouse above Roy is mind-numbingly ridiculous.  Only to be outdone with Eric "I only play in contract years" Dampier ahead of LMA.  What are your thoughts on Dallas getting their scrubs on the all star list?

Quick's blog on the second results:

Seriously!?!?!?!?!?!?
We need to call in Biff Tannen to drive through this truck of BS. Did Cuban put on his fast-food apron again and ask everyone to fill out a ballot before they got served? There are only two players on the Mavs that should be even sniffing votes: Nowitzki and Howard. Terry and Stackhouse shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Roy, let alone the All-Star ballot. The most glaring though is Erik "The Freak" Dampier. The guy has had declining numbers since he left GS in '04 and he isn't even a normal starter but yet he is still 3rd in the voting at Center. Maybe some of the voting Chinese population can't discern between the three Texas teams but Ming vs Dampier. Come on folks.

You can't even blame it on national popularity. It must be the electronic voting system. I demand a recount, especially in the 4th congressional district of Florida.

Allstar voting is flawed
Everyone on the Houston Rockets are getting votes just b/c they play with Yao Ming.

Blazer fans are forced to compete against whole countries!!

Germany, Italy, Fance, China, Canada all against Portland.

Travis Outlaw drops the sledgehammer on Daequan Cook for a dunk so vicious, it's illegal in 48 states.

The Voting
The voting should either be like that or like the "Who's More Now" thing on MTV, oh wait, I mean ESPN.

we need
to eliminate the fan vote out of all all-star voting. Way too many times very deserving players are left off because it gets turned into a popularity contest or a lifetime achievement award. All star games are supposed to be rewards for a great season. Is Shaq an all-star? Is he having a great year? No, but he will be there for the AS game. Fans also only want to see THEIR guy. I can remeber screaming at the tv when Clyde wasn't voted in, but rather a coaches pick. See the above example of all the Rockets getting love because there are BILLIONS of Chinese people voting dozens of times for Yao (deserving BTW), but the Rockets are the only team they see. THat means a guy like TMac(not desrving btw) could get in. I hate to say it, but thank God #24 is a deserving player, or we'd have Tmac as a starter. The for all star games should be done with an unweighted 3 part vote made up of the players, the coaches and one beat writer from each NBA city. Quick would get our vote. Leave those choices to the people who know what an nba all star is, sees all the players and knows what it takes to get to that level.
NOw before everyone gets their panties in a wad about All-Star games being for the fans, blah blah blah realize that for the most part your still going to get your stars as starters. I think the difference would be that guys like Roy would make it if it was voted on by the players. Game recognizes game. My plan would also eliminate the coaches bias, and ability to take a marginal all star guy from his own team to keep peace on his own bench. He could honestly tell that guy, "Sorry, I voted for you.....but...". If you want to leave something to the fans, leave the last spot open and have a vote between two guys. Something like baseball does to fill the last roster spots. It's funny to see those 2 guys on sportscenter campaigning for it. OR, during the game, leave the MVP voting to the fans via internet or texting. We could turn all-star weekend into American Idol! Bottom line is that there is no way a true fan can be objective or rational. How many BEdgers have voted for JJ on their ballot.? Fan is short for fanatic.
On Paul Allen's cash it should say "In Pritchard We Trust"

and you could also argue
that the truly savvy fans (like us) don't vote every day.  Champs diary poll showed that 54% of us have voted fewer than 10 times - and we've had how many days??

I could start making comments about an intelligence to number of votes ratio, but that would be totally unfair tho I do think that many who vote every day are voting for familiar names rather than current performances.

Maybe they should change the name from All-Star Game to Fans' Favorites Game.  And thats the trooth.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
