Z-Bo gets national attention on nba coast to coast...

I was watching nba coast to coast and they were picking people for worst performance this season.  The first dude picked Mchale for shipping away kg for a bunch of nuthin. Guess what the second guy picked???  Zach Randolph's defense.  The clip they showed was even better. Zach was arguing with the baseline official while his man Murphy is setting up and draining a wide open three, there isnt a pacer within 8 feet of zach. Classic Zach. I mean, if you are averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds and STILL finding yourself at the top of the quarter season worst performance list, you are doing something very, very wrong.

ps   there were multiple mentions of the blazers, all very positive.  Nate got some credit for his coaching job, the blazers got credit for having one of the best team performances, and roy got credit as a breakthrough player.  Jalen Rose said that "Roy is a quiet star about to become a superstar".  Nice.

Amazing
A very few of us insisted that Zach's lack of defense overshadowed his offense and 98% of the other posters just railed on us non stop. Now, that he's in an NBA mecca everyone else sees for themselves what those few of us were saying all along.

I hope to get at least a few apologies.

Really?
I must have missed those conversations because I don't remember them.

Or maybe I just agreed and didn't read the additional comments that did the railing?

No duh he sucked on defense, hence why I wanted Zach out and Aldridge in.

I usually agree with you buddy, but I'm backing
the prophet on this one.  Every time a trade came up, the topic of addition by subtraction, etc... there were a handful that supported the idea (and you may well have been one of them), I know I sure was, but I definitely felt like I had to defend the reasoning.  I'd say most on the site would go along with the OK... we can entertain trading Zach, but only if we get "equal value" which inherently meant offensive production as far as I could see, which of course would never happen as that was the whole issue, offensive production without defense, and stagnation of the development of other players offense.

Yep
it's all too true. A few of us took unbeleivable grief for posting truth. We should be hailed as the MVP's of Blazer's Edge.

Well, Well, Well
All of a sudden the Blazers went from no respect Dunkleberry bungs to darlings of the NBA.  All it took was a winning streak.

P.S.  I hate, "all of a sudden." If you made a drinking game, played 24-7, where you had to drink every time you heard, "All of a sudden," you would be drunker than Nicolas Cage's character in "Leaving Las Vegas."

I'll say it again
It was the right move to get rid of Zach, but there's no need to pile on the guy.  He's a very gifted offensive player who's a very poor defender.  He wasn't part of the future here but I wouldn't wish the situation he's in now on him.

re: Zach's Defense
He's a very poor defender because he chooses to be one. Defense is an attitude.

i disagree
effort is part of it certainly, but I think Zach is a bad defender even when he is giving it his all.

haha i saw that too
Zach doesn't even look at his man, he is just yapping at the refs

whether zach is a bad defender
even when he's giving it his all might be one of those questions which will never be answered. we will never know.

Zach
could NEVER become a good defender. However, if he wanted to he could become a decent one.

I have always maintained thatg if he worked as hard on his defensive game as he did on his offensive game he'd be a much better player.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
