New Blog: Anchor Of Gold For Vanderbilt Fans!

CSN Viewership: 25%

OK, this is far from scientific, but in a recent diary entry I asked Blazersedge users to let us know which source they use for television. Out of 72 votes, here are the results so far:

Which TV Provider do you use?

  • Comcast 25%
  • DirecTV 37%
  • Dish 25%
  • Rabbit Ears 6%
  • Other 5%
  • What we're seeing here is that fully 75% of Blazer fans right now are unable to watch this wonderful new channel. Now, below is a NEW poll as the next step in this non-scientific experiment.

Also, if you haven't voted in the poll quoted above you can still do so. It's in the diary entitled 'comcast v. satellite'.

    Comcast availability....
Let's not forget that there are many communities around the state where Comcast isn't even an option. It isn't in my small town of Silverton.

I have Dish so therefore I'm screwed unless an agreement is reached. I still voted "no" though as I wouldn't switch even if I had the option.

    but let's not forget
Yes it's awesome that if you have comcast (which I do) you get to see ALL of the Blazer games this year for free. And yes, it sucks if you don't have it. BUT, I ONLY feel bad for people who live outside the Comcast area and REALLY HAVE NO CHOICE. I remember PAYING for games during the Isaah Rider/rasheed/brian grant days on pay per view to see them play. We can't expect everything for free. If you love them enough, you'll switch to see them. YES IT SUCKS they have you by the balls, but thats the way it is. Sorry to sound harsh, but we are a bit spoiled here.

    Not getting Comcast
If Dish doesn't sign on to get this channel I'll be mad. I'm very happy with my current satelite, internet, phone etc. after having used Comcast before. I would not switch just for one channel, even though I'm willing to pay for it, as a matter of principle as well. Anyway don't count on having Comcast share CSN, as quoted from wikipedia: In the Philadelphia region, Comcast uses the FCC's "terrestrial loophole" to avoid negotiations with satellite television services for delivery of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, which is transmitted via a closed-wired system instead of satellite (as its predecessor, PRISM, was a local-only service). This essentially denies competition in the Philadelphia market for games of the Philadelphia Phillies (baseball), Philadelphia 76ers (basketball), and Philadelphia Flyers (hockey). Comcast does, however, supply Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia programming to Verizon for their competing FIOS video service, even though FIOS is not available to residents of the city of Philadelphia. [citation needed] A smaller controversy arose when Comcast and Cox Communications announced that their systems in Connecticut would not be adding SNY in 2006, if ever, for varying reasons not fully explained. This came to the anger of Mets fans who would need to switch to satellite to watch games due to all of the state being in the Mets' designated territory (thus, games would not be available through MLB Extra Innings, and most ESPN telecasts would be blacked-out). Comcast's purchase of Adelphia's systems in the state and Cox's skeptical eye towards RSN carriage in regards to fan loyalties also could be factors.

    I had comcast once
no dish without a large insurance policy and it's own freestanding perch at the place I was at at the time (The Merrick.  Though I hear it has new ownership...).

I live close to the pearl 24 hr fitness, so I just go there and ride a stationary bike and watch the away games.  Saves money on bars and cable, and instead of hoisting a fat tire, I'm losing a spare tire.

Believer, you have forgotten the true meaning of Alvis Day. Neither is it ham, nor pomp. Nay, the true meaning of Alvis day is drinking. Drinking and revenge.
