Kobe for Durant

Instead of all the Kobe to Portland crap going around... how about this idea.

Kobe for Durant. The Lakers would get the other side of the draft. What better to fuel a rivalry, both north and south of us, then our least favorite player in the leage going up to a team that we are now starting to find ourselves kind of rooting for in exchange for sending the #2 pick to L.A. and to a team desperate to change the face of and stirring up thoughts of PJ coaching the next Jordan of the league and truely bringing that hate of the Lakers back to Portland.

Right now, we as fans are a little soft for L.A. and Seattle. We need rivals to be proud of pounding in the future...

I know that this is no where near proper english writing... but I think the idea comes across...

I second that response
Kobe wants a chance to win a title....he might as well stay with the Lakers then....the Sonics with Kobe have very little chance of winning a championship.

I don't think the Sonics would go for it.
I don't think the Sonics would go for it because they're in a rebuilding phase, and Kobe isn't in their timeline. Their timeline involves having an uninspiring team that will keep revenue down and justify a move while building toward a great team in three years after the team has moved. Bringing in Kobe would undo both aspects of that timeline.

would never happen
Kobe would veto that in a nano-second.

Agreed, wouldn't happen.
The Sonics wouldn't do it because Kobe is way off their timeline, and Kobe wouldn't do it for the same reason.

excellent point
When big names get moved, it is usually to the other conference.

I would love to see Kobe living in Oklahoma City.  I hope they don't move, but...

2 more cents
Kobe is not going to agree to any trades in the West if he is not going to Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, or San Antonio.  Add Kobe to any other team in the West, and I am not counting losing the guys in the trade, and that team still won't beat the four teams I just mentioned.

the lakers should trade odom
AND KOBE, and just rebuild. They could get so much young talent and picks it's not funny.

Kobe to Orlando
Kobe should be traded to Orlando for D Howard and change. Kobe + R Lewis would rock, and D Howard in LA would give them a solid Big to build a winner around. I don't know if it would work contract-wise, but I'd like to see Kobe and Shaq living near each other again.

by Steve The Hedge on Nov 3, 2007 10:09 AM PDT reply actions

It works...
Kobe to Orlando for D Howard, Hedo, and Pat Garrity. It would make Orlando the Denver Nuggets of the East. Bynum and Howard would give LA a Twin Tower to compete with us when Oden returns.

No way
Would you give up a young Dwight Howard for Kobe Bryant near the end of his prime?

Howard is one of the top 5 centers in the league in an era where true centers are very hard to find.

If I want titles I'm holding on to the big guy and passing on Kobe.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
