Thus far into the season my biggest worry other then perimeter defense, and channing frye as the starting 5, is the lack of strong moves to the basket. Yes, Roy absolutely went bannanas last night and did just that, he took the ball to the rim. However, I'm disappointed with how rarely we see thunderous dunks. We have at least three guys suited to run and dunk in LMA, Troutlaw, and Martell. Why then the lack of Alley Oops and high flying jams? It seems to me Aldridge and Trout in particular don't attack the rim enough. I will give Martell a pass for now as he is SOOOO deadly from outside I think he shoots a MUCH lower percentage on lay-ins and dunks then he does on the 3 ball. So then, why the hesitation? Why the lack of authority driving the lane? Why does Outlaw settle for the jump shot or lay in when he can dunk with such authority?
As a side note is the fast break dead or just on life support? It seems like the team is morphing more and more into a half court team. I saw some pushing of the ball especially during our critical second half run but I didn't see as much up tempo play as I would like.
So dear Blazersedgers why the fear of taking it strong to the rim? And as a side bar are we speeding up, slowing down or stuck in-between gears?
