games with no local tv

i've been wondering what people do for these games that have no local tv coverage. (besides filling up the chat thread here on blazersedge). i usually find myself meeting some buddies at a sports bar. i feel like some of you must be doing the same thing (i saw on dave's poll a few weeks ago that i'm in this sites core demographic). i live in se portland and usually go to claudia's (3006 SE Hawthorne Blvd), and have also been to to a few others... but i digress, i'm not writing this diary to detail my bar habits, i'm writing to pose a few questions to my fellow readers:

does anyone else go out to watch these games that they can't watch at home? if so, where?

and who would be interested in attending some kind of massive blazersedge meetup for one of these non-televised games?

Could be fun... if...
The bar was non-smoking and had wireless and comfortable couches with that big screen tv.  Oh, and they broke the rules and had soudn.

I would dig a meet-up
for a road game to give support to the team, as well as to Dave's awesome blog. A bar would be good, but maybe we could go some place like a pub - some of our best, most faithful contributers are underage - they could join us as well then.

But tickets are so cheap (and available), you should really get out to the Rose Garden (it's OUR house) and support the team. I dropped $199 on those season nosebleeds and have loved everyone of the games I have been to. Even those that don't end in a "W."

When unable to attend a game, or on the road, I always listen to 750 KXL. Wheels does a real good, homer job.

Show up some time! Check out a game live! Go Blazers!

Why not actually attend the game?
It costs like, 10 bucks per ticket, and if it's a poorly attended game, you can grab cheap tickets from the scalpers in the black section and get free food.

I've tried to hit up most of these non-televised games simply because they aren't televised.

And there are free tickets out there
Buy 2 burritos on first Tues. of each mo. at Moe's in Wilsonville and get 2 free tickets.  I don't know how it works but I plan to be there next Tue..

I think sponsors/advertisers get free tickets that are (sometimes?) available to employees.  At least that's how my daughter got comp tickets for two games (and perhaps more coming.) See if you know someone who works for a sponsor/advertiser.

The Oregonian had a promotion in which you'd get two tickets if you'd subscribe and agree to automatic payments.

Through Feb. 12 if you buy $25 worth of partipating products at Sentry, Select, or Thriftway stores you get a voucher for one free ticket.  (Product brands include Tide, Downey, Folgers, Crest ... )  Of course $25 would buy you a nice seat, but then again if you do use toothpaste...

Rip City Magazine says these sports bars have prizes on game nights; I don't know if that includes tickets, but it might be worth checking out since you watch at bars anyway.

I , for one...
hope that everybody on blazersedge.com uses toothpaste.

I also hope that everyone on blazersedge.com goes to a game this season.

I use toothpaste
and deodorant.

But I guess I shouldn't tell you about the First Annual Naked Blogging Day that's coming up...

Blogging naked is fine
Arranging a public get-together around it can't be good.  I'm guessing the amount of skin that never sees the sun on an average blogger would lead to a requirement for many pairs of sunglasses at such an event.

EGAD.

It wasn't the first time I'd been kicked in the cherries and called a rat by a woman, but it was the first time I didn't mind.

Meeting Proposal
I suggest we all meet at the High Desert Brewery in Las Cruces, NM. I will buy the beer and we can also go to a New Mexico State Aggies game . . .

No takers?

I wish I was closer to SOME of you folks because I get no respect as a Blazer fan here.

Have fun, get together, and enjoy your community.  I miss Claudia's.  If you would, pour some barly pop on the curb for your departed homey in the desert.

Dude!!!
My parents moved to Las Cruces last year, but I probably wont make it down there till after the season.  That would be cool to take over a bar there and make it a Blazer bar.....if you can find a game!!

Let me know when
You're right. The problem is finding a game on but it can be done sometimes.

For some reason there are many Laker fans here.  We have San Antonio, Denver and Phoenix kind of close but everyone walks around in that awful purple and gold. Last year I saw one guy on campus with a Blazers jersey.  It was Bonzi's!

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
