Expect me on the evening news, cause I am gonna kill a m'fer if we lose this one. My PS3 game is on the line here!

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 1:12 AM PST reply actions

I really..
expect a win tonight. I dont think this team will get into those long 10-15 game funks like last years. And definetly not against the bottom feeders of the east. We win tonight by 8 atleast.

but...
i expected a win with philly, toronto, boston (twice), and a few others if I took the time to think about it.  I'm not hater, but the lack of defense is starting to get old.

Huh? My PS3 isn't on the line here dummy. And neither is a PS3 videogame depending on this outcome. The bet with my friend from NY was that whichever team has the best record, the loser has to buy a videogame of choice. NY is not going to have a better record than Portland.

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 2:47 PM PST up reply actions

#1 i'm definately
not a dummy and yes ny
will have a better record
than portland this year
you can bet me now i'll
be in pdx 3/29-4/5 so i'll
pay up what's the bet young

I'de like to place a bet too my friend.

I understand.........
That the D has been horrible, but i really dont think it will go on unckanged like last years is. They are in a slump right now but this team has the ability to get out of it. Last years team didnt, they were in a slump for the final 30 games last year. Thats not going to happen and tonight will prove it.........i hope :)
Bucky

by Bucky Blazer on Jan 3, 2007 2:58 PM PST reply actions

I agree
This is simply not the same team as it was last year. Hopefully Nate was able to reach them in practice yesterday. Last year was a long long slump. This year is going to have slumps, but we'll have some streaks too.

What the hell. The game is not on TV.

End of Q1 PDX 24-23

Z-bo has 11 points; Jack with 7.  Nobody else has done much for Portland.

Score harvested off Internet, so I don't know much else 'bout the game.

Back to the dishes...

Wheeler: "Curry is driving by Magloire and getting to the basket, something that Przybilla was not allowed him to do." (jist)

WTF. Why is Joel sitting. Dammit.

"What is Magloire not doing defensively against Curry that Przybilla was doing earlier to stop Curry?"

....

This is pissing me off now. This reminds me of that entire Zach/Shareef/Darius fiasco.

WOW. Now a Magloire turnover. Jesus man. Get him the hell out of the game.

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 7:40 PM PST reply actions

WTF
Wheeler: "Curry just overpowering Magloire..."

Nate took a timeout. He better get Magloire the hell out of the game. Joel is NOT in foul trouble.

Wow. This is bullshit. Nate kept Magloire in. What the hell. How many more mistakes does he need to make before being benched???

51-42 NYK

What the hell? Magloire better not play a single damn second in the second half.

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 8:06 PM PST reply actions

What is Maglore doing wrong?
Although I'm just a yahoo boxscore watcher here... he seems to be doing decent... 4-4 from the field and only 1 TO.

Is curry really making him look that stupid on defense?

Socks for ROY!

by Devyn on Jan 3, 2007 8:10 PM PST up reply actions

aaa
Curry was making him look like an idiot. Curry dropped 10 quick points on Magloire and Magloire could not stop him. That 4-4 is nice, but allowing Curry to take over the game and single handedly put the Knicks up at halftime is what is ruining this game

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 8:14 PM PST up reply actions

At least Aldridge is playing
and had a nice jam from an Ime assist that those of us radio-only fans will probably get to see on the highlights.

At least my kitchen floor is getting scrubbed.  Work off that frustration!!

by jorga on Jan 3, 2007 8:26 PM PST reply actions

anyone know...
If there's any way to find an internet radio website that could possibly broadcast the Blazers game for free? Living in California is fun and all, but only getting to watch my Blazers when they play the Warriors sucks.

What's wrong? long shot. Long shot. Midrange jumper. No inside game. Let's shut Randolph out and try to beat the team by ourselves.

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 8:29 PM PST up reply actions

Not sure
I have a RadioShark, but think that it deals with just local broadcasts, but it may be worth checkin them out to see if they have an internet driven service.

10-2 NYK run.

Portland down 16.

IT'S THE GODDAMN KNICKS PEOPLE.

37-18 rebounding advantage.

Joel and Magloire have a combined 3 rebounds. That is it.

David Lee has 11 by himself.

"It's an absolute dunkfest in the Rose Garden." -- Wheeler talking about the Knicks.

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 8:46 PM PST reply actions

sigh
That's it. I shut the radio off. No more.

Something is wrong. Something is messing this team up. I don't know what. I don't care what the hell it is. Whatever the problem is, fix it.

There is no hustle, no grit, no grind, no nothing with this damn team right now that they displayed earlier in the season. And I don't even have to watch the game to know this!

Next 5 ain't easier: @Sac, Mia, @SA, @Dal, Sac.

Is it Magloire? Because it seems like the turning point in the last 5 games has always been when he came into the game. All of the hustle and flow was gone. All of the hard nose grinding evaporates, like the energy is being sucked out. Is it a mere coincidence? Or is it just me wishing it was something as simple as one player? I don't get it. Does anyone?

by damir on Jan 3, 2007 8:51 PM PST reply actions

i dont get it either Darmir
I dont even know what to say. We got swept at home by the worst teams in the world. Nate even dropped an F Bomb after the boston so hes got the fire. Too bad the team doesnt.

hee hee hee
you know when i'm writing
at work yes i do earn a
living fellas the bottom
line is roy is the man
nate basically told the
team he's the man with zbo
and the young guys can't
deal with it damir that's
your problem e.curry
dominated the paint and like
i said before when the knicks
play by play man mike breen
still considers the blazers
the worst team in the nba
despite there record that
speaks volumes about what
america still thinks about
the blazers remember he's
the national voice for abc
and espn also and thank-god
for this quote mcmillian
told breen that roy's a special
special talent and he needs to
add more pieces to blend with
his talent thank-you coach
that is what i've been saying
all along people more talent
and the best part of the night
was when webster hit a 3 with
seconds left in the game a
fan screamed "it's about time"
boy that was funny i told
you guys knicks win very
comfortably in the immortal
words of lord darth vader
"all to easy" and blazers
fans we've have a problem.....
and we need a superstar period...

by fatty on Jan 3, 2007 9:50 PM PST reply actions

you know guys honestly
i blame the j.quick's
the die hard fans
who really overrate
the talent on this team
outlaw does a couple of
nice things 2 games and
then disappears for the next
5 pryzbilla the way curry
made him look tonight
again p.allen throwing
away his monopoly $$$$$$$
$30,000,000 worth on a
stiff who the blazers treated
like he's shaq o'neal i'm
going to leave m.webster
alone because it's obvious
the fans in the $$$$$$$$
seats are making this poor
kid the scapegoat with
spattering of boos everytime
he misses a shot raef is a
another stiff $12,000,000
this team lacks a true
leader and a star to take
the preesure off zbo and
roy also this team needs
some charecter*heart period
and to coach mcmillian who
has beautiful young talent
in roy,aldridge,sergio,jack
he's killing jj confidence
to lead this team and i
don't give a damn about
what you people say but
aldrige-sergio should be
getting 25 min a night
period.. i've seen galances
of brilliance from all
4 kids but his decisions
are totally moronic period..
play the kids and thank-you..

Yeah...
For anyone who follows baseball... Nate is the Mike Sciosa of Basketball. Stunt the youth's development to play favorites with his vets.

its so funny
being the worst team in the nba. Blazers suck again.. welcome 2007.

No down-side
Take heart Blazer-fan, the end of the world is not here just yet. Although the new year has started out terrible, don't expect the trend to continue all year long. Here's a few things to take from our record:

  1. Nate. Is there another coach you'd rather have? Nope.
  2. Roy. Solid player. Foot seems better. Will improve with time.
  3. Zach...maybe. Started the season saying all the right things about playing hard 48 minutes. Now we'll see if he walks the walk. We'll know what kind of captain he is before the season is over.
  4. Jack. Only his second season. Damaged, but not broken. He too is being tested in the fire. Will the blade come out stronger, or break at the first test?
  5. LaMarcus. Young and athletic. He gets a pass this year, but a #2 pick should have been an impact player in year one. Adam Morrison is.
  6. Sergio. The magic-man. Assists magically appear when he plays.

That's it. Joel, Jamaal, Martel, Travis, Juan, Dan, Raef, and even Ime are lesser players.

  1. Joel. He's tall and can defend pretty good. That's it.
  2. Jamaal. Ugh! First it was no-heart, then too many turnovers, and now it's can't defend/won't pass. Time for an enema.
  3. Martel. Second year. Getting worse?
  4. Travis. He's been a Blazer how long, and still doesn't know his assignments?
  5. Juan. Knew what he was when we got him. Not a disappointment as much as a wasted roster spot.
  6. Dan. Inconsistent.
  7. Raef. He's getting paid how much??!!
  8. Ime. Solid, smart player. Not a liability, but not a large asset.

On the bright side, if we stay this bad, we'll be a high lottery picking team and we'll add new potential to the roster. Not what I was hoping for to start the season, but not totally unexpected either. If we win...hopefully we did so with good team ball and showed some improvement in our consistency.

by Steve The Hedge on Jan 4, 2007 10:26 AM PST reply actions

yeah hedge
give me phil jackson
larry brown g.popovich
to name 3 also a.johnson
and p.riley thank-you

by fatty on Jan 4, 2007 1:42 PM PST reply actions

Coaches better (or worse) than Nate.
Phil?  If he were willing; he's generally shown a dislike for coaching teams that aren't ready-made winners:

Riley?  See Phil Jackson--except Riley's even more transparent.

Brown?  The worst carpetbagger of them all.  Riley's at least got rings for most (all?) of his fingers on one hand; Phil's got enough rings for all but his left pinkie.  Larry?  One in the NCAA (Kansas 1988) and one in the NBA.

Pops:   Sure.  It will be interesting to see how he fares without Tim Duncan.

Avery:  Similar coach to Nate.  Avery gets the nod due to results, though I somehow suspect that if Nate became coach of the Mavs and Avery the coach of the Blazers, the two teams wouldn't fare much differently.

Scott Skiles:  See Johnson, Avery.

What about Jerry Sloan?  He's certainly proven he can coach.  Mike D'Antoni?  Doing a fine job in Phoenix.

Of course, there are several overrated coaches leading decent-to-good teams (Flip Saunders, Brian Hill, Jeff van Gundy, George Karl) that I'm thankful we have Nate rather than them...
