Third Greatest Blazer Ever Contest: Semifinal 1

It's the semi-final round of the Third Greatest Blazer Ever contest!  Both of these guys had relatively easy trips through the first round, now let's see how they do head-to head.

Your choices are:

Zach Randolph  (who to my mind scored a semi-upset win over Jim Paxson)

versus

Maurice Lucas

You may use any criteria you wish:  stats, playoff appearances, team wins, overall talent, variety of skills, persona...it's up to you.  Please do note that only contributions as a Blazer should count, however. Register your vote in the comment section below.  The voting will be open until New Year's Eve when we will post the final matchup.

Lucas.
He has the body of work, Zach is still a (piece of) work in progress.

Z-Bo
I'm voting for Zach as an act of faith that the Blazers' future is going to be better than their past.

maybe we can revisit this battle 6 or 7 years from now after the Blazers have won a couple of championships under Zbo... =)

As of now. Lucas.

Agreed, Lucas as of now
But I really, really hope that Z-Bo pulls through for us in the next few years.

Luke
As above... Zach may overtake Luke, but I can't project future accomplishment.

Otherwise, BRoy has to be in this somewhere.

Mo
just cuz.  And agree with the sentiments about hoping Zach makes us reconsider down the road.

Cool-Hand Enforcer
I guess the question can be answered in two ways:

Which blazer was the best player?
If we are going with this question, then the answer to that question would have to be Zach.  His numbers are going to grow and grow and grow.  Especially when you take into consideration that he's 25 years old.

But this begs to question, will he be here for much longer?  With all of his potential, will he be a Blazer long enough to go down in the annals of Blazer lore, or is he just passing through to his next contract?

That brings me to the other question:

Which player was the best Blazer?  AY, it would be very difficult not to put Maurice at the very top of this list.  Who could exemplify the true heart of a Blazer champion than the Enforcer.  It seemed like every team had to bring extra First Aid supplies, every time they played us, when Mo was on our team.

At this point in the discussion, I don't see how Zach would supplant Lucas during this match up.  However, as with all underdogs that rise up to beat the favorite, if Zach carries this team to the finals, and it can be clear that it was his will that put us in that position, then Z-Bo will not only own the title of best blazer(Forget Clyde and Red), but will have established a legacy greater than either one of the supposed greatests.

But until then, I'll have to give the nod to Lucas (still a fixture in this community as well as my heart)

Was Damon really a bad Blazer, or did he get the short end of the stick?

yes, lucas
being a huge part of the championship team outweighs scoring and potential in my eyes.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
