GAMEDAY OPEN THREAD: Hornets vs. Blazers

Register your swaggering predictions of victory, virtual high-fives as Travis dunks all over the Hornets and Martell rains threes on their heads, and gleeful post-game celebratory comments here.  If we lose this game we will randomly select one Blazersedge reader to be sacrificed to the basketball gods, for obviously we have angered them.

This is a really bad quality HDTV feed. It's better than SDTV, but it isn't true HD.

Okay it seems like the close-up cameras are better HDTV quality, bu t the once afar aren't.

grrr
The audio is not even Dolby Digital. Worst HDTV feed EVER.

We're winning
because we're shooting 57% FG & 75% FT.  I'm just able to follow online, but it seems that Udoka's doing better than he has been.  Jack doesn't seem to be picking things up (but then again I can't see, I only know he has 6 points and is shooting 2-5 FG).  I know we're playing a team missing 4 starters, but I'm glad to see the Blazers shooting well after a couple of tough losses.

3rd quarter
sealed it, I think...we held the NOOCH to 14 points to our 26.  That should just about do it.  We got 4 players in double digits and 2 close with plenty of time.

Funny how the second unit giveth the lead, and second unit taketh the lead.

one thing very interesting about travis
is that he seems to have picked up on the concept of driving to the basket in order to get fouled. this is how zach (or any good scorer) piles up points. at the FT line. travis isn't a bad FT shooter, and his athleticism has caught the attention of scouts. nobody wants to get dunked on.

he's also dribbling in traffic with more confidence than ever before. hmm. he's getting better.

I agree
I watched him back someone down and then turn to the basket and score last night and thought then that he'd moved to a higher level of play.  It's a new Travis and I like what I see.

Agreed
I was at the game tonight (thank you Blazer organization and Adidas for the free tix!), and T-law was indeed taking it to the hoop.  Every time he had it in his hands, he would hesitate for a sec, and I'd shout "STOP THINKING!  JUST DO IT!"  (Apologies to Nike...)  Then he'd either pass it, shoot a nice J, or drive and either get the basket and get fouled, or even convert the three-point play!  Cha-ching!

Yeah, he did miss his first two FT's, but once he settled down and got into his groove, I think he played well and made some good decisions.  (But that's just this fan's uninformed and biased opinion - keep in mind that I'm not a scout!)  In fact, most peeps played well - obviously well enough to win the game against the injury-ridden Hornets.  Would've been better if everyone could catch S-rod's sick passes and convert!

And hey, we got free E. Coli w/B-roy's final two FT's!  Hooray for Toxic Hell!

Drive and Pass
One play he started to drive and then kicked it out for an open shot.  If he learns to consistantly make that pass when the D collapses . . . wow.  It would give opposing teams a choice, 1)Don't collapse and make Sportscenter, or 2) Collapse and give up a wide open shot, 3)Foul.  He will probably be padding he stats at the line.    No matter what they choose its good for the blazers.
Outlaw took some time to develop but he is becoming indespensible. Lesson to be learned here is to have patience with Webster/LMA/Sergio.

Ime's back
with a double double.

And a never-before play ... Ime to Joel for the dunk.  Big grins on both faces.  Mine too.

I like those unpredictable plays - like Randolph to Roy for the basket - usually the other way around.

Lots to like about last night's game.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
